Echo Beach Backpackers

Staying here for close to a month was the best decision I've made since traveling to Thailand. If you're looking for a private room or shared rooms, look no further. Location is perfect as it has everything backpackers would need (ATM, 711, taxi stand, motorbike rental, beach) just a minute's walk from the hostel. The bar itself is pretty chill and is a great place to unwind or socialize with other guests. Food is also good and not overpriced. The hostel never fails to hype everyone up for upcoming parties, and even throws in free taxis to said events as part of their promos. I myself am not a party goer but I still enjoyed my stay thanks to the amazing people running Echo. Whether you are in Koh Phangan to party, to rest, or to heal, Echo Beach Resort is the place to book.

An amazing hostel with amazing hosts and right on the beach! It's great to hang out on the bean bags and hammocks on the beach after a night out and pre drink at the hostel bar before going out again!

Hostel life is a life away from home.
It’s a shelter for people from all over the globe to socialize, live and learn from one another. Echo Beach was exactly that. There were people ranging from Brazil to Australia, and we shared stories, laughed, cried picked each other back up and did all over again the next day. We look forward to seeing one another and meeting even more people when they check in.
From the moment I came in I was welcomed with open arms by the manager Sky, his positive energy and warm personality was contagious and unified people from various backgrounds. The setting near the beach adds to a relaxing and hospitable open area. It allows for everyone to listen to music, swim in the pool or beach (yes, there is both) and just get to know one another… maybe with a piña colada in one hand as well:)
Hostel life is a family and that’s what Echo Beach Hostel represents.

Thee place to stay if your coming to Koh Phangan! Great vibe, location, staff, food, amenities and atmosphere. Sky is an absolute legend. 11/10.

Really fun hostel with great party vibes & free pool - it's by the beach if you like beach walks (bit shallow for swimming) - the manager Sky really made the experience for us (organised nights out, taxis where we needed & was all round very friendly) - the Aircon in the private room we got was deadly & location is also fantastic.

Myself and a friend stayed in Echo for three nights over the full moon weekend. The owner, manager and staff were so accommodating, helpful, and great fun. Nothing was ever an issue, the hostel is in a great location and the atmosphere was chill but great social scene in the evening. Love you Echo

It’s a budget friendly nice hostel by the beach. Near some shops, restaurants and 7/11.

And if you love cats, just book Room No. 3 and she’ll be waiting for you at the balcony:)

Good place to stay. A little bit noisy but if you are a talkative person there are a lot of people to communicate with.

Though had an issue. Cleaner has stolen my charger. Nit a big issue but unpleasant experience anyway.

She already took my stuff at 10: 00 (i am not checked out at 10: 00 so why do you touch it) away from the bed when she cleaned the room but to the bartender desk.

This time it just disappeared.

If you stay here keep your belongings secured even cheap ones.

Heard a lot of hype about this hostel, it was good but the beds were very uncomfortable (why can't places invest in nice pillows!) and the top bunks didn't have a side rail so I have no idea how people don't end up falling off! The communal area and vibe were great although I thought that more could be done to make it more vibey on the beach. The sea itself is not swimmable and is actually incredibly dirty as all the rubbish seems to collect in the corner next to the pier where the hostel is. The main places to eat nearby are all fancy overpriced cafes but there are a few Thai restaurants nearby which offer fantastic food for a great price. Would recommend for the full moon party as it's busy and fun to stay at.

Best hostel on the island! Clean rooms with a very nice hangout / bar area. Live music in the bar most nights!

When we first arrived at Echo Beach we were told they had messed up our rooms and we were put in one with a double bed instead of 2 singles. We understand mistakes happen so went up to the room but were greeted with a mattress cover and pillow with some questionable stains and we decided we would ask to move as we both wanted our own space too. The owner/manager was slightly rude about us not wanting to share a double bed and insisted it was the better end of the deal and anyone else would want to. I re-iterated that we had specifically asked for 2 single beds for a reason. After some re-jigging of rooms we were able to get one with 2 single beds but it unfortunately never had A/C, only a fan. After asking for a discount since the room was a downgrade to what I had paid for, I was offered one. We chalked this up to human error and were happy to put it behind us. Unfortunately we woke up the following day to a large puddle of water on the floor of our room, only missing all our belongings by literally centimetres. There had been a hole in the window frame that water had been coming in all night during a storm. When I asked for a towel to dry it up I was told that the hole had been fixed but ‘it obviously hadn’t worked’ and wasn’t given a towel. Staff then began coming in and out of the room so we left. We later asked about the full moon party and if there were any drinks or anything on before it and were met with “I don’t know what you mean? It’s not even a real full moon party right now anyway” which for advertising that they know party spots etc was really disappointing. The vibes in the hostel weren’t anything special and the adjoining beach was very small and rather dirty looking. Despite how this review may sound we genuinely aren’t ones to moan and I was nothing but polite to the staff for the whole time, but we were so disappointed with our stay here. Nevertheless we had a great time in Koh Phangan. I just personally wouldn’t recommend Echo Beach to a friend.

Pretty terrible. Rooms are noisy next to the road and very uncomfortable, the beach is dirty, and staff only bother to turn up at 8am so if you want to check out earlier than that, they're keeping your key deposit. Stay somewhere else! No idea how the other reviews can be positive. Much higher quality available for the same price elsewhere on the island.

Echo Beach is one of these places that feels like family straight away. This is a no frills place, but the beachfront is a plus, and the staff are really what makes your stay fantastic. Tom, Jill, Paolo, Lola, Genia, Lily, Mark: thanks for an unforgettable stay!

Really comfy place with a warm nice beach bar.
The price was really cheap but quality of hostel very high.

1 picture say more than 1.000 words, mosquitos growind in the toilet, hard beds, everithing dirty and people only looking for party and not very respectfull at all, when I booked they told me I had my own toilet and that's never happened, this is my experience here. If you have 20 years old and you are looking only for party maybe can be your place, but not for nothing else. The other people should avoid this place.

It's a very good party hostel in Koh Phangan, it has a very good food and drinks. By the beach with a snooker table.

The people working here were really welcoming and helpful. It’s a very social place with great lounging areas, and I found the dorms to be quiet at night (though I don’t know how it is during full moon party).

Great hostel! It can be a chill hostel or a party hostel. It depends on you! Staff is very nice and helpful. Rooms are clean and quiet, beds are comfortable, coffe very tasty and cheap, the best: the hammocks! I ended up staying 2 weeks in a 6-bed bedroom. Loved it!
