Phangan Arena

My room was way too cold due to the air conditioning. If there is a dorm right next to the bar, it is very loud in the evening and you can only sleep if you drink a lot of alcohol. The staff were sometimes very friendly or in a bad mood.everything was there. You can find better for the price. Unfortunately it is a party hostel. It's better not to sleep there, just go there to party and sleep in another, quieter hostel. But the offers there are quite good and the location is very central, but unfortunately not directly on the beach, which I can only recommend to everyone. But it's really good for getting to know people; you get into conversation pretty quickly. I wouldn't book the arena again.

Staff don't seem to care about the guests at all. They just see them as money. Most of the Thai and Burmese staff are very nice and friendly but the Brits are not. Service at the reception is always bare minimum and no care taken at all to explain anything or make sure the guest is happy.

I had to move rooms bc my a/c sprayed water everywhere (they know room 30 is bad but they don't fix it and still let people use it). No apologies just get moved to a different room. Next day in my new room I get brown water coming from my sink and toilet, so I go tell them, again no apology just an offer to move rooms or get a free drink at the bar. I asked for refund of my remaining days and they say no flat-out, so I check out early and leave.

Half the stuff is broken or faulty, and I hear that the dorm rooms are filthy and the bathrooms aren't cleaned often enough.

They also have an organiser of fun/games who never smiles.

If you guys want guests to maybe come back to your hostel or not leave early, then maybe treat them with a tiny bit of respect when they aren't getting what they paid for.

I had the best time in this hostel, amazing vibes, good music, the staff were super friendly and helpful… best place to pre party, a lot of activities and drinks games

AVOID this place at all cost. See the 1 star reviews before thinking Abt going here. There are much better places for cheaper price. These guys are nothing but scammer. Booked a private online and when get to place, I'm told all private rooms are booked up and I was suppose to send them an email to make a full payment before arriving. Nothing like this was mention on hostel world or neither did this place send an email asking for full payment. I ended up booking a dorm at full price but with in 20 mins was able to find a private at other place. They refuse to refund my money even though it was booked less than half an hour ago. They will take your money and over booked and won't refund you. Please go to Eco Beach and you will not regret it.

Phangan Arena was amazing. Not too high standard, but you expect that because of the price. Amazing people. Dali and Omar were some people we met there. They were amazing, took us around the island and we had a great time.thank you for an amazing time

Lack of cleanliness and regular maintenance was my biggest issue, especially in the bathrooms.

Other than that the staff is nice and the atmosphere is good.

Location is Pretty Good on the main road to Haad Rin Beach, Saturday Night Party Is owesom there, better to advance booking if you go there for full moon, staff is so amazing that they look like your family, Swimming pool, gym, basketball, volleyball and football ground are there, DJ music is going on all the day until late night, 24×7 Restaurant cum Bar, Overall Very Good Party Hostel if you looking for party

I recently stayed at this hostel that had an incredible atmosphere and the kindest people. The communal spaces were lively and filled with friendly travelers, creating a vibrant and welcoming environment. Love how close the hostel is to the beach. The room was clean and the AC was a life saver.

Highly recommend staying at Phangan Arena. This staff are all wonderful. I initially booked for 3 weeks as it was such a great price. I then enjoyed it so much that I extended for a further 8 nights. I plan to come back and stay there in July. I'm really looking forward to it. It was the first hostel dorm room that I've stayed without getting really annoyed and checking out into a private room. I tolerated the loud music & party scene because most nights, I joined in. It is such a sociable place and I've met so many amazing people and made lots of friends over the month. I chose to stay in Baan Tai area as I find this an excellent area if you want to go to all the parties. It doesn't take too long in a taxi and not too expensive. It's 5 min drive from Thong Sala, which has two amazing food courts. There is also a night market in Baan Tai, which sells a great selection of tasty food. It is only 5 min walk to the beautiful beaches. The hostel also has private rooms, which is great for some people. I would like to say a special thanks to Kitty, Ton, Hugo & Jack the dog. I will miss you, but hopefully, I will see you all again in July.

We've been traveling for over 2 months and this has to be the worst hostel we've stayed in.

We booked a private room for 6 nights during full moon party week and wished we hadn't. For the price we paid, (£48) a night, it was a terrible experience. The private room was a shambles. There's dead mosquitoes, blood, and god knows what else on the walls, as well as ants all over the room. When arriving, there are extra charges e.g 50 Baht per person to rent towels and 1000 baht deposit for a room key. These are hidden charges, luckily we had the cash.

From day 1, our room had a problem with the electrics. This meant everytime we had a shower, the electrics tripped and the heating system for the shower and all the lights would go off. This happened 5 times in the space of 10 minutes - it didn't get fixed even though they said they'd call maintenance to get it looked at. (Avoid room 32 as apparently it's been a running issue for a while). On the 4th night we had no running water because there was a problem with the water tank? When water came back on it was brown. The WiFi is awful and constantly goes off or is very slow. As an added bonus, the walls are paper thin at this hostel, and music blasts continuously throughout the evening, sometimes up until 3am, so no chance of sleep if you're not having a night out. The only positives of this place is the pool, and the social aspect as you meet a lot of people.

As our electricity problem continued throughout our stay, they finally moved us into a new room on the 5th day - the room was a lot bigger but had no curtain on the main window, so yet another thing we had to speak to them about. They dumped all of our belongings (that we hadn't packed) from our old room into our new room without telling us or getting our consent whilst we were out. We still had valuables in the old room in the safe, and had to disturb the new person (who was asleep) now staying in our old room, so we could get our stuff out of the safe.

On the 6th day, the electricity completely cut out throughout the entire hostel and there was no running water for hours. As an added remark, the organisation and communication is non existent between staff. I would avoid this place like the plague. I had to negotiate for a few days before we could get any type of compensation. Jon is the only person who listened to our issues and did his best to fix them.

Would be the perfect hostel if they turned the music down a bit at night - loud music until midnight is pretty fair game but when the incessantly loud, bass-heavy music is still thumping loud at 3am every night it’s a bit much. They seem more interested in the money they can get from the bar than the quality of guests stay. The beer pong is good fun, good bar and pool and location isn’t bad but I wouldn’t book here if you value your sanity - it’s impossible to sleep before 3am even with earplugs and the best noise cancelling headphones on the market due to how high the bass levels are

Worst place I’ve stayed in Thailand.
Constant problems with the electricity cutting out for hours and the hostel running out of water multiple times! Our shower didn’t work and we requested to move rooms. While we were out, the staff removed our stuff from our room without telling us and dumped it into a different room. We hadn’t packed anything so they basically went through our stuff. They left all our valuables in the safe and moved someone else into the room! My bottle of vodka was also missing after this.
I didn’t sleep the whole time we were there as there was heavy base playing until 3am.
The rooms were dirty and sticky and full of ants. I’d suggest to stay somewhere else if you want to avoid all this hassle.

If I could rate it 0 stars I would. Dirty dorms, lots of cockroaches and ants, no free towels, bad WiFi, dirty showers, power cuts, and vomit in the pool. Partying was fun, and I've been to a lot of party hostels like Revolution, Mad Monkey etc but when you got bass heavy music bumping still at 3am right outside your room you get almost no sleep. Staff are very rude and unfriendly. Bad value for money. Come for the party sure, but stay somewhere else

The hostel is a nightmare. The rooms are dirty and most don't have any windows for ventilation, our room stank and there was no way make it feel fresh. The American guy who I assume is the owner is incredibly rude and unhelpful. Our friend got given 3 faulty bikes to hire in a row which ended up with them stranded and when they called for help they were told the hostel wouldn't do anything and the girls could pay to fix the bike themselves. Another bikes brakes didn't work which is just lucky that didn't lead to disaster. This hostel just wants money and doesn't care about you as a customer at all which is what you need when you're in a diffrent country

As slogan would also fit „come with good ears, leave with tinnitus“

everything is dirty staff is unfriendly music to loud to connect catchy with alot of sport equipment -> everything is broken? Never ever had such a bad hostel stay

Worst price/quality hostel EVER!
paid 25 euro's p/n for a dirty dorm and broken showers.

I do not recommend it. I have had far more better hostels for far more lower prices.
