What an amazing experience to be so close to the monkeys but also our hosts were absolutely lovely. Highly recommend for everyone who is stopping in or travelling through Suratthani to arrange a visit of the Monkey College.

You can think what you like about training monkeys and animals. However, if you decide to take a tour at the Monkey Training College, you will meet a very nice and committed trainer who is continuing the company in the second generation. Of course, the purpose of the whole thing is to train the monkeys to the point where they can help with the harvest. The training here in the camp takes place with great dedication and without pressure. It's particularly nice to see how the animals are allowed to romp around in the large area.
The demonstration of the learning objectives and tasks were also very interesting for me.

At the end we were allowed to eat a harvested coconut and homemade ice cream.

A very big thank you for the nice tour and the time you took!

Delighted with this experience, a big thank you for this little moment with our friends the monkeys. The little beings seem to be happy and if they don't want to work the owner doesn't force them, that's the main thing for me

We had a great visit to the monkey college. Somjai was a lovely host, who let us try her delicious homemade coconut ice-cream. All of her animals are treated like family.

It was super easy to organise our visit to the center. We had such a lovely time with Somjai who took very special care of us and our 2 children. The monkeys are kept in a very respectful and appropriate manner. They are brought to the center by farmers to teach them assisst in farm work and usually stay for half a year with Somjai. During our stay we got to feed the monkeys, take pictures and even eat home made snacks ourselves.

Our Visit to Somjai at the Monkey Training School was the absolutely highlight of our stay at Surat Thani. Somjai is such a kind person. We had a really nice afternoon with her and the apes.
We were lucky to find a new time for our visit without any problem, after our daugther was not feeling well in the morning.
It was great to see her work with the apes and amazing to come so close to them.
Thanks also for the delicios Coconut Icecream and Waffles at the End.

It was a very nice and interesting experience to visit this 'college'. We learned a lot about how the monkeys are trained and got a demonstration of their abilities. At the Monkey Training College they really care about the animals and treat them ethically. In the end we got some coconut meat, milk and home-made ice cream and coconut rolls (pastries). The host was very friendly and is indeed a kind and happy individual.
It was a real pleasure to be there and can definitely recommend.

We had a fabulous and very memorable afternoon visit at the First Monkey School, just outside Surat Thani. We were made to feel very welcome by Somjai, the centre owner, who is an incredibly friendly and warm individual. She clearly cares a great deal about her 'students', and we watched as she guided a number of different monkeys through various training exercises, all with incredible amounts of patience and affection.

The monkeys are trained ethically, are really well cared for, and are continually rewarded for effort, regardless of progress or success. In addition, Somjai cares for lots of rescue dogs at the centre - she really is a wonderful, caring individual.

At the end of our educational session, Somjai brought us green and brown coconuts so we could try both the juice and coconut meat, then treated us to some of her homemade coconut ice cream, which was incredibly good. She even gave us a ride to the local village, where we caught a tuk-tuk back to town.

If you're planning to spend time in Surat Thani, make sure you put a couple of hours aside to visit the Monkey School - it's an incredible once-in-a-lifetime experience.

This is one of the highlights of our Thailand trip until now. The lady was very welcoming and lovely. She showed us the basic training macaques undergo to learn how to pick coconuts from palm trees. At the end we had the opportunity to open a coconut ourself and fruther to drink the juice and eat it. She also let us try her selfmade ice cream that was very delicious. All in all perfect experience.

It was a great experience to learn how a monkey learns to take commands and do many stuffs. Also, the trainer lady, she is a great person. She was a great person, talkative, and hospitable. She offered us coconut meat, juice, and some desserts made by her. All of them was delicious. If you are in Surat Thani, I definitely recommend you to visit her place.

We called an hour in advance and the nice lady invited us to come.
Our three kids loved the presentation (doctor Banana:) and especially having the monkey on their arms.
We enjoyed home-made ice cream as well.
It is obvious the lady loves animals and we do as well so it was immediate fit.
One of our kids' highlights of our trip.

One of the best moments in our whole trip around Thailand.
For two people we paid 500 Baht and spend an awesome afternoon.

This is not a typical animal show or some kind of tourist trap. Somjai (The Trainer) is one of the kindest and heartwarming persons we met on our whole trip. She treats the animals very well, shows patiently how the monkeys are trained and answers every question you might have with a smile. My personal favorite was that after the demonstration, we sat together and ate a Coconut one of the monkeys had picked directly from a Palm tree next to us. All in all I can absolutely recommend this place and encourage everyone to take some time to visit.

Also you can buy Coconut oil which is handmade by Somjai herself. It is amazing in Quality and an awesome souvenir.

We absolutely loved visiting the Monkey Training College. It's a lovely setting and a fascinating way to spend a couple of hours learning about the monkeys and watching them demonstrate their skills was amazing. The proprietor was a wonderful host and was awesome handling the working monkeys and it was a highlight of our trip and a fantastic experience for both young and old. We were treated to the most delicious icecream and coconut too and will treasure our memories of our time there.

Somjai is an amazing host. After we made a mistake and booked the wrong dates, she went out of her way to help and accommodate us the same day within 30 minutes. Truly impressed with the hospitality and the training college was a lot of fun.

First Monkey Training School in Thailand founded by Somjai's father, with respect, no violence, high experience and humility. Miss Somjai is an animal-lover, she enjoy's the training as it was his father's job and besides that she takes care about 15 abandoned dogs in her amazing place. She's a magic thai woman with a big heart. See you next time!
