The Yard Hostel Bangkok

I only came here after arriving at 5 am by bus and leaving at midnight for a flight, and they didn’t even charge me for a room. I paid 250 baht to leave my luggage and shower twice. So worth it! Great atmosphere. It’s also close to the Chatuchak weekend market, so I’d suggest this if you are here Saturday/Sunday. When I come back to Bangkok, I’m staying here!

Great oasis to switch off! We had a room with a bathroom and a loft bed and a great view of the inside area. The ambience is great. We both really enjoyed the breakfast. Our expectations were met, we wanted this and got that. Nice staff

Accommodation is made out of shipping containers. Rooms are tiny with no shelves or hooks so all your stuff has to go on the floor like in a camping tent. Though the sheets are very shabby, they seemed clean and the bed was neither soft nor was it super firm so I wasn't too bad to sleep on. Breakfest was tasty with fresh fruits. My only real complaint is that the bugs in the yard area ate my legs up so badly that it looks worse than having the chicken pox. My legs will be scarred for along time.

We choose this place because of its location. It's located around Ari BTS. You can also get the bus A2 from airport.

The hostel has JapanDi architecture. There is a lovely backyard full of trees. They are 100% sustainable and plastic free. You can choose between individual dorms, individual rooms with balconies and lofts.

Their breakfast is completely vegan. They offer tea, coffee, cocoa, fruits and toast with homemade butter and jams. Not many hostels offer lactose free milk. But they do and it was a pleasant surprise.

There are cafes, burger joints and noodle bars inside the hostel premise. The place also organizes yoga workshops for residents. Incase you are running late they are kind enough to store your luggage and help you. Highly recommend for long term stays.

Great atmosphere! Super relaxed shared spaces. We had a private room which was very clean and comfortable.

Great place for socializing! But you might meet different new people every day. That means it’s a bit hard place to have a more deep connection with travelers.it’s pros and cons

Had higher expectations based on the reviews here’s my experience:
Staff - hit & miss. One lady is really friendly the other lady is always on her phone and is pretty rude/blunt
Vibe - there’s an outdoor space for chilling and socialising which is nice. There is an AC room but this is FULL of people sitting and working on their laptops in the daytime. Since when did this become a coworking space? The vibe here seemed like people come here to “work from
Home” and less of people coming to travel and backpack and meet fellow travellers. I was lucky to meet a few other backpackers but the vibe here and dynamic is definitely shifting as 50% of the people are work from home people using the AC room as a work from home space - it’s dead silent and anti social during the day because of that
Breakfast - vegan, bread and fruit with a homemade soy yogurt.
Food - good selection of cafes and restaurants right outside but not cheap
Location - good quiet location near

Noise - rooms back onto the courtyard so can be a little noisy, I got the private room on the last night of my stay and that was even worse than the dorm rooms, very loud. But they do provide free ear plugs
Facilities - toilets and showers are not AC, and are pretty run down
They are very eco friendly which is really good.

Great place with a nice community. The Hostel ist very clean, it offers activites and the Service is very good. At my last Day I havent enough money to pay the Grabdriver to the airport. The Girl from the Hostel Service pay the missing Part of the Fee and Ordner the cheapest driver for me. Thank you very much for your help.

I can hightly recommoned the yard Hostel.

This place is fantastic and had the best breakfast and morning coffee of all my Thailand hostels. My comment here is to address the explicit no cannabis policy. I invite the owners to reframe their attitude towards the plant. It is much better for your health than alcohol and cigarettes. The yard could be a safe and beautiful place to enjoy decriminalized cannabis in Bangkok.

The perfect place to start or end your backpack trip. Cosy and clean hostel, surrounded by a green courtyard, the perfect place to escape the chaotic city and meet new friends. The staff is really friendly, they even learn all their guests names!

Just a perfect place to stay in Bangkok. Staff was super friendly and cooperative. One gets comfortable with the place immediately after entering. I stayed on 25th December 2022 and there was this cool party there, everyone enjoyed a lot.

This was the first place I stayed when visiting Thailand and let’s just say it set the bar real high in terms of accommodation. The yard is such a cool place to stay. The layout of the common area is perfect for meeting people and just hanging out after a long day of exploring. James is a great host and goes above and beyond to help you. They have a great burger joint and bar and the breakfast is great too. If you’re in Bangkok make sure you stay here.

Incredible hostel, where great people come to hang out and “vibe”. Go here for a laidback atmosphere in a nice environment, where friendships can form but where you can also just enjoy the essence of being in a peaceful garden.

My first hostel in Bangkok set the bar incredibly high for the ones that will follow. This is a wonderfully social and eco conscious place to stay; a true oasis in a cosmopolitan like Bangkok.

The staff is there to not only help you with what ever you need, but also to create a human connection. They organize all kinds of extra curriculum stuff like yoga and an ice bath in my case. Oh and the included breakfast is super tasty and nutritious, thanks to the cafe around the corner. Furthermore it’s clean, safe and a relaxed hostel you’ll be staying in. Rooms aren’t to big, though private enough to get the job of a good night sleep done.

It’s a little outside the center of all tourists sights, however with the sky-train and or the subway it’s easy to get where you need to be. The area where they are located has lots of hidden gems to discover too.

Enough said.

Amazing neighbourhood, very chill hostel with a great sustainable concept. The staff is very nice and helpful, the breakfast is amazing and also gets you talking to other guests.:)

General vibes of The Yard was pretty cool - very chill, slightly hippie vibe and def didnt feel like you're smack in the middle of Bangkok city.

Hate to be a nahsayer but rooms / dorm rooms were small and cramped, only two showers and 3 toilet cubicles to service a whole floor (something like 24 beds + common yard area where everyone hangs) and the place wasnt super clean.

Probably a 5/5 for vibes and friendliness, as long as youre not fussy about cleanliness/ room.

I've stayed at The Yard before and while it's a cool place and probably a nice community, I did not feel super welcome - which is fine considering I only stayed for a short while and minded my own business. The staff was helpful but not super proactive and the place was under construction, for which I was forewarned and offered a discount for next stay (sadly won't be using it). The room was hot without the Aircon and the cold air was blowing directly when sleeping, so it was not very enjoyable. The place itself is clean and comfy but I was hoping for a more communal atmosphere, which I did not find, so that's why 4 stars only since it did not meet my expectations.

Great people, great property, and overall, a great vibe. Not to mention, the definite steps they've taken to ensure sustainability

In writing this review, I have gone ahead and travelled across Thailand- staying in a great number of similar accommodations as The Yard.

I didn't want to believe this would be the very best hostel, being that it was the first place I stayed upon touching down in Thailand. However, over the course of nearly a month of traveling across the country, it has remained in the first place spot with all things considered.

Staff: 6/5; no other hostel has such warm, open, and inviting staff as The Yard. Every one of the staff have such great recommendations from food spots to local events.

Location: 5/5; it's a tad far from downtown but thankfully, the BTS skytrain is a 5 minute walk from the hostel. I was hesitating between giving 4.5 or 5 but have decided with a 5 simply because of the neighborhood. Just within the immediate vicinity, there's a wonderful variety of food. It's also much more quiet within the neighborhoods compared to the downtown area.

Facilities: 4.5/5; you're paying for a hostel and you're getting what you paid for. That being said, upgrades are constantly being made due to the increased number of tourists. Cleanliness, safety, and comfort all surpass what you pay for however you can still expect something falling under par every now and then. A light but nutritious breakfast is provided for free every morning.
