Wat Khao Tham reviews
14Small hidden temple. Worth watching. There is a small viewing point nearby. All in all it took 1 hour.
Beautiful path through the woods to various temples and memorials. Apparently there is also a school of meditation
Beautiful buddhist temple with cave and beautiful sunset viewpoint of southern koh pa ngan. The temple has some monks living here, and one can speak English just a little (Pra Pandit)
There is also supposed to be a retreat centre here with retreats every 10th day of the month. Don't expect much, however.
I arrived on registration day and the retreat owners friend asked for my passport, but then kept it.
When I asked for it back, she said I should pay 5000 baht for the retreat. There was never any structured retreat however.
The retreat centre used to be a well-known place to do silent retreats, and has years of history of various acclaimed teachers guiding the monthly retreats. The retreat centre is still advertised to have retreats from the 10th to 20th of the month. However, as it currently stands, there is no structured schedule or teacher guiding the retreat. Tookata, the retreat centre manager will still ask you for 5000 ฿ for your stay. It is possible that one can organize and practice on their own, but that may not even be desirable as the retreat centre facilities are in need of improvement
Found my inner peace again in this place meditating 3 times a day with the monk.
The place is so beautiful and peaceful and the view is amazing
Can you say there is a "best" temple? If so, this is the best temple on the island. It's tucked away in the mountains, small and peaceful. My favorite place to go and chat with the Monk and Meditation Teacher. Plus amazing views!
It's very quiet and calm place on the hills of Koh Phangan, there is a wonderful point of view, you even can see Koh Samui island from there. They do have a vipassana (see clearly) meditation retreat. The temple is amazing colorful with a laid Buddha statue. It's a must go place in Koh Phangan for visiting or for a retreat.
Best view over the island. Go here for sunset it's absolutely amazing. You can see a huge part of the jungle.
Serene place. With a reclining Buddha statue. Vippasana meditation takes place every month.view of koh phangan from here is stunning.
Magical place of meditation in the jungle. If you visit, respect the vows of silence. And watch out for the brown dog!
Watch out for the Spanish guy, , chris? He like to shock people by grabbiong them when they are in deep states of meditation!
Peaceful little temple surrounded by forestry.
They offer each month a vipassana meditation.
The viewpoint is definitely one of the better spots in Phangan to see thesunset
This and Than Sadet are the two oldest and most beautiful temple sites on Koh Phangan. This one is larger and has a better view, but no beach. See my photos for important visitor info.
