Tanote Villa

Perfect if you like it a little quieter. The facility is super spacious. Even though the hotel was fully booked, it felt like there wasn't much going on.
You can get to the hustle and bustle in 10 minutes by taxi.
Unfortunately, there are not enough scooters available for rent. If you want one, you have to contact reception as soon as possible. But there is a transfer for 200bath per person. You can always find a taxi back for 500 baths - so you can do it without a scooter, but it's a little more expensive

Loved it so much. People were lovely, friendly and helpful. Always open to talk and smile. Environment is very pretty en the rooms are spacious and clean. It was really perfect. First time for me to actually have good food in a resort! Thai food tastes authentic and with the breakfast buffet you get plenty of choice. There was one chicken stir fry in the morning that was very spicy (I absolutely LOVE spicy food) so I was just so happy with everything. Good chef, good people, cute dogs (one looks like a Dutch cow which was adorable).

Would come back every time we visit Koh Tao. Thank you for everything Tanote, you are the best!

Beautiful hotel overlooking Tanote Bay, good restaurant, beautiful swimming pools, very pleasant staff, the beach below and the sea and its corals complete the whole thing. Not so easy climb though

Tanote Villa is located about 10-13 minutes by car/motorbike from Mae Haad.
Walking takes almost 55-57 minutes since during access there are several slopes (up and down) and curves.
If you do not rent transportation, I do not recommend it since you have to agree on the price with the Pick-up or with the hotel and it is expensive.
The hotel only has 2 free times to take you to the pier or to pick you up, which is quite limiting.
There is a beach nearby but you have to go down through a mountainous area and honestly going there to have dinner at night knowing that then you have to go up and go that way it is not very practical
The hotel restaurant has a variety on its menu.
Breakfast: they have 4 options in addition to fruit. Generous quantities.

The rooms: Ours was overlooking the pool and luckily. If they are not dark. Bathroom without natural light and poor lighting.
Ants both inside and outside the room. The bed had a wooden support that you could easily hit, I don't think it's very practical.

It has 2 swimming pools. The views are spectacular. Every day they do maintenance although in some areas the ceramic was already falling off

They have a ping-pong table and a pool table.

Staff: at reception they were correct but not very flexible, it seemed like you were begging for things

If your idea is to disconnect from the island, this place is recommended

If your idea is to see beaches, eat in local places, see sunsets at a beach bar and you don't take a motorcycle/car, better go to Saire Beach or Mae Haad

There is no coverage, connection to their wifi.

The hotel is like every other hotel, resort, Villa in the middle of the jungle and/or close to the sea. I mean we are in Koh Tao! It is perfectly normal for insects and other beautiful animals to be in your room besides you. We stayed in 3 different rooms and all rooms were clean, AC working, warm water at any time of the day. From the first until the last second we felt welcomed and taken care of. Every single person is friendly and always happy to help. Yes, the path to the beach is a bit steep. But you can see that the resort is not directly on the beach. And again - that are most of the hotels in Koh Tao. Taxi is NOT expensive when you are used to European prices! Just open your eyes and understand on which island you actually are.it happened once that we got our fried calamari toooo fried and after asking they replaced it. You get what you would like to have - just be patient and talk.

The beach is below the hill there are two paths either in the hotel with steps and footbridge or a steep road.
Beautiful beach with fish everywhere.

A beautiful complex with a wonderful and idyllic view over this breathtaking bay, situated in the middle of a palm grove and skilfully embedded in nature. The foundation stone was laid on March 23,1963 and a general renovation of the facility, which was getting on in years, was urgently needed! The cheaper rooms in the main building or the small villas are well equipped. There is a safe and free drinking water in PET bottles in the room every day, as well as little things like toothbrushes. The ladies on reception could be friendlier and the staff in the restaurant are not very service experienced and are quite slow to severely clumsy with very poor knowledge of English. The food very sweet. The three pools are not only an eye-catcher, but also fun for the whole family. Unfortunately a bit outdated, the massage beds don't work and cleaning only takes place once a week. The way down to the beach is a bit longer and quite adventurous (partly without railings). The beach itself is absolutely amazing and can definitely keep up with diving and snorkeling spots in Egypt on the Red Sea. The reef is still very intact and offers a variety of beautiful fish, sea cucumbers, small jellyfish or rays. If you are lucky and have good visibility, you can also see baby sharks in the sand near the beach. Important note: do not enter the water at low tide as the coral can cause painful cuts and injuries. The bay is only accessible at high tide, or even better from a boat. The large rock can be easily climbed using a rope. Important: only jump into the water at the lowest point at the other end of the rope. In the hotel area and on the beach there are a lot of insects that can be annoying. Mosquito sprays can help.

Beautiful resort, amazing views and lovely helpful staff with a private walk way down to Tanote bay below (snorkelling there was 10/10).
2 lovely pools for guest use - one deeper in areas and one chest height with a view over the bay.
Free hire of snorkel (pay for damages) and able to rent a scooter.
Breakfast included with the room was great too and varied for everyone’s tastes.
A tad worn in areas around the resort but doesn’t affect your stay at all and adds a little character.
Really enjoyed our time here

This place is run down, they build new but dont maintain what exists.

So it's a bit like gamble, you can get a quite new room/villa with great wifi connection and everything working or you get what is there for 60 years and no one kept the things in good shape besidse putting some tape to hold things together.

Breakfast reaches from mediocre to not edible.
No need to try the other food.

Staff is kind but not able to keep up with their work on some occasions you'll find them playing games instead of cleaning the tables or other duties

The view is amazing and so is the sorunding nature. This place is full of plants and shady places so you should prepare for alot mosquitos

This is great value for money resort. It's quiet big and there's a restaurant there. Not so many places around it. You can walk to the beach and that's it. Luckily they have a shuttle that takes you to the port 4 times a day. If you still for a couple of nights that's okay but we stayed there for a whole week. The food in the restaurant is always the same, and the breakfast doesn't change much. We needed to try different food, so I needed a motorcycle to go to the city. Stuff if friendly and Tanote Beach is quiet and beautiful. At the restaurant they were so kind to make a vegan or vegetarian version of most of the dishes.

Wunderschönes Hotel! Tolle Anlage, Wahnsinns Aussicht auf das Meer, das Personal ist sehr freundlich.
Man ist etwas außerhalb vom Zentrum, aber mit dem Scooter innerhalb von 8-10 Minuten wieder am Ort des Geschehens:).
Die Ruhe, das tolle Ambiente, der Ausblick ist die Entfernung alle mal Wert!
