Shark Island reviews
7Shark island is a good place for SCUBA, if you want to go arround the island diving it will take you a bit more then one hour
What a jewell of a dive site, abundance of sea life both corral and a wide variety of fish all over, good visibility but be aware of the current
Excellent dive site located just on the southern tip of Koh Tao.
Know for a wide variety of fish life and both soft and hard corals.
Also notorious for it ever changing current, but if you plan it right, the current will help you to see a big part of the dive site.
Shark Island is also one of the dive sites where the seasonal whale sharks are often spotted.
Island off shore Koh Tao easily reachable by moderate swimming with fins for 10 mins from Sai Daeng or Ao Leuk beaches. While you have a slight chance to encounter a whale shark this site is reknowed for its excellent diving and snorkeling where you will have great chances of seeing harlequin fish, blue spotted rays, trevally, batfish, parrotfish, angelfish, barracudas and many more.
This is one of the areas near Koh Tao where there can be underwater and surface currents. Unexperienced snorkelers are best kept away and you should use a surface marker buoy to cross from the beaches to the island as the boat traffic can be high at some times of the day.
You can also hike on the mountain but the rocks can cut easily and the rocky shore is full of very sharp incrusted clam shells. Brings gloves and boots if you intend to reach the summit for an incredible view.
Saw a 5m whale shark here along with a smaller 2m whale shark while scuba diving
Amazing dive site! Lots of corals and fish! Be careful snorkeling there; lot of boat traffic and sometimes there can be a current
