Monkey Samui Hostel

Just fair and square for the price I paid. All I needed was a roof over my head and washroom. Voilà, there is air con.

Not ideally located. Over 7 kms away from Chaweng, renting a motorbike makes sense.

If you take the haad rin ferry to or from phangan this place is not too far from the pier, probably not walkable with bags, but cheap taxi.

The price is cheap, google hotels sometimes has it less than 100 baht. Typically on the other websites it's 150 or 200 (for 10 person dorm room).

The water in the bathroom doesnt drain very well because the floors are flat not slanted. Mattresses not very soft. Aircon works well. Not enough power sockets in room. Some curtains on the beds would be nice for privacy. Overall it's acceptable. I'd stay again.

Except the condition after 3 year pandemic, this hostel is really good

Wow, receptionist was high, they didnt honor prepaid booking. The place is in complete disrepair. AVOID!

Upon arrival to the hostel, the entrance had a swamp at the front and we had to go through bushes at the back of the entrance to get into the hostel. There was no signs to tell us where to go. Once we finally got to reception there was no one there, when the lady came out she told us that they was fully booked (even though we had booked through BOOKING. COM) she mentioned that she told her boss to take off the rooms on the website as they was fully booked. Clearly the owner didn’t listen to what the reception lady said to him. We asked for a full refund but we was told that we had to go through it with booking.com (fair enough). I DO NOT recommend Monkey Samui Hostel as the management seems to be very poor and lack of communication. Mosquitoes was everywhere due to the swamp at the front door, which bearing in mind you can not enter through other than walking through it.

Very friendly owners (a young German guy and his Thai girlfriend) and super low price (150 Baht per night for a 6 bed dormitory with air con). Also, they have a nice cat and a cool dog named Batman. You can pet both.

About scooters: The cheapest scooter rental place is down the road (if you go out the hostel follow the road to the right for about 10 min until you find a fruit store which also has the sign for scooter rentals. The lady there is also very nice). I paid 180 Baht per day for the scooter and there was no deposit and 0 trouble.

Really nice place to stay for a few days. You can choose a privatroom with His in bath or the doorroom with Others peoples. The Leader of the Monkeys Samui Hostel is very helpfull and explain you a Lot Things you can do at kohsamui.
Price-performance ratio very good.
