We stayed at Lamai Samui for 8 days in July 2023 and it was a wonderful experience. The place is superb, the staff incredibly available and friendly, the food is excellent. Everything was perfect. The meal on the pontoon is an experience to live. Beware, however, of the tides, which make the beach in front of the hotel impracticable at certain times of the year. But that's okay knowing that you can swim a little further, about 20 minutes on foot. We highly recommend this property and hope to return in the future.

We spent 3 weeks in this hotel with my family but also with friends. We are all used to high level service but this hotel reach an other level in term of client experience. All the staff are doing their maximum to fulfil your wishes and expectations. I never met a staff so kind! Thank you again for this amazing moments

Exceptional stay on par with Aman and other luxury resorts.

This was the second time that I stayed at The Lamai, and this time was even better than the previous stay. The private pool villa with a sea view is exceptional, not only in the layout and comfort but also in terms of privacy. I previously stayed at Amanpuri, Ritz Carlton Koh Samui, Anantara Resorts, and others, and The Lamai is meeting the same standards and expectations.

I had the chance to meet the GM of The Lamai and was not surprised to find out that she was part of the initial team that opened Amanpuri in Phuket decades ago. The attention to detail and exceptional hospitality level of The Lamai is a direct reflection of the experienced GM. The Lamai is, for me, still an insider tip on Koh Samui (in comparison to other brands on Samui, such as the Ritz Carlton, Banyan Tree, etc.). It has the same standards (if not even exceeds them) as similar properties on the island for a fraction of the price you would pay at Amanpuri.

Another bonus point is the serene beach and big bay with shallow water is safe for inexperienced swimmers. Also, a significant benefit is that the resort is small enough to walk everywhere. This makes the Lamai more calm and “natural” than other places that require buggies for every pick-up.

Thank you, Khun Piak and team, for your exceptional hospitality, and see you soon.

Beautiful hotel - but what makes this stay extra wonderful is the staff and their authentic friendly demeanour!
We booked a plunge pool suite - the room itself was great- having the bathroom outside was a little mosquito prone so draw the nets immediately for that comfort.
Breakfast was perfect - I loved the choices and the quality.
Bed was wonderful and comfortable- good towels and nice amenities.
The place is right on the beach - with a beautiful night time dining space on the sea- very romantic!
Grab a moped to explore the island for sure - you can get around very easily that way! You can also get a shuttle from the pier for 150baht instead of the private shuttle that costs 1000baht.
Would highly recommend

5 stars for the value for money (paid €120/night including breakfast) but otherwise 4*

Overall really enjoyed our one week here:)

The pros:
- beautiful resort and garden
- high quality materials and furniture
- friendly staff
- our Verandah room was beautiful, big and we enjoyed the big bathtub

Why this is not a 5* hotel but rather 4* in European standards:
- breakfast is very basic, what they should change:
1) higher quality products (sourdough bread, greek and coconut yoghurt, bircher muesli, better fruits such as mango, passion fruit etc, home made peanut butter and other nut butters, organic eggs, tea infusions, fresh juices without sugar)
- 100 different wifi hotspots, no wifi by the pool
- outdated furniture, sometimes falling apart (bathroom wooden thing fell down)
- plastic water bottles (come on it’s 2023, just provide glass bottles)
- shower gel and shampoo very bad cheap quality, smelling like AXE deodorant
- motobike availability (wanted to rent a 125cc scooter, not available until the next day)
- no fitness classes (would be cheap and simple to add at least one yoga or HIT class per day)
- staff is very friendly but needs significantly more training on how to deal and communicate with customers

Also please note that it’s not possible to swim here properly in the sea (in the morning you can go in chest deep but otherwise only knee deep) but this is generally the case on most beaches in thailand apart from Phuket

I didn’t try the restaurant cos i read the food is nasteyy but my friend tried it and liked it. The Restaurant Chom Ley Cafe next door is amazing, so it Kawins close by.

Honestly wouldn’t change a thing! Such a great welcome and great chilled atmosphere. The staff are fab. If you’re looking for a chilled getaway then come here (200tbh to Lamai in a taxi and 600 to Chewang) - you can walk to Lamai along the beach

I had a fantastic experience staying at this hotel with my family for five nights at the end of January and beginning of February. The standout feature of this hotel is its staff, who go above and beyond to make your stay special. Many of them even remember your name, which is a lovely touch. A special thanks to Tree, Tam, Lop, and all the other amazing and friendly staff members.

The reception area is lovely and perfect for meet and greets during hotel check-in. The rooms are very well appointed and have fantastic baths and outdoor showers:) Although our room didn't have great views, we still enjoyed the peace and quiet on our patio. We had a lovely breakfast every morning and occasionally had lunch, which was very tasty and reasonably priced. The hotel facilities, including the gym, are all very nice. The hotel's location is perfect as it's tucked away from the main road, so it's very quiet. It's also just a short walk to all the action in Lamai beach, where there are plenty of bars, restaurants, and other places to eat. I highly recommend seeing the fire-show at The Door restaurant. Otherwise, it's easy enough to get to Chaweng beach as well.

The hotel is getting a bit old and will need some attention soon. Apparently, this property was formerly a Le Meridian by Marriot. We stayed at Le Meridian in Bangkok, which was definitely more modern, but overall, everything was good, and I would definitely visit again:)

Amazing hotel, and even better service. Super enjoyed our stay there, and will be back! Lamai itself is slightly boring, but the hotel makes up for it, an oasis of peace and calm. Personal favorite: the pier for sunset drinks and dinner!

Not 5 stars vibe at all. It is more like 4 stars, but the price is overrated. Breakfast was nothing special, and the dining was awful for us.

Took the swimming pool access bedroom. Felt the bedroom itself was quite small (with a huge bathroom) and with very little privacy (many windows on ground level). Staff was great, breakfast with good variety pool and sunbathing area was very nice.

Came back for the second time. I really like the resort. Staff are very helpful and friendly and were very flexible in changing my travel dates from June to September. Recommended bringing mosquito repellent and a bug zapper if you have one

Here for our Honeymoon. Beautiful location and hotel. The staff make you feel like you are their most important guest, helpful, attentive and fun. We couldn’t be happier especially for the price!

Context … we booked The Lamai Samui in 2021 as part of the Samui Sandbox it was SHA+, you had to isolate for 5 days there and have 3 PCR tests before release. All paid for upfront.
The week before our departure the UK Government placed Thailand on their Red list.
Graciously the hotel allowed us to roll our stay into 2022.
And we are so pleased they did … we’ve made The Lamai Samui the last part of our Thai trip.
And with almost all service industries, the staff either make or break the customer experience.
So what makes this lovely hotel? Simple - its the folk who work there. They simply win you over, from the moment you cross their threshold. And I mean every single staff member you deal with, directly or indirectly.
Yes, they are building back their business and maybe they’re putting in that bit extra effort, but it never felt like that - the high level of service they provided just felt natural, and the warmth from the staff just made us feel so comfortable and welcome.
Because we had booked under the sandbox program we were full board … but never felt constrained. The food was exceptional. Fresh ingredients and cooked to perfection. Nothing was too much trouble. We stayed in an Ocean View Pool Room which was well maintained and spotlessly clean and comfortable.
Due to travel changes the early check-in and late check-out offered was a godsend.
…. No apology for saying this again, the staff at The Lamai Samui makes it their differentiator. Thank you to them all.

Amazing staff (helpful, attentive and willing to go the extra for the customers). Em on the front desk was amazing and helpful. Tree at the pool was super attentive and accommodating. Dream (spelling?) At breakfast was super friendly.

The doors are the right balance of indoor / outdoor with room to move. Small gym but good for a morning session.

The hitel is at the quite end of the beach so you can get away from the crowds but you can walk over if you want to enjoy the atmosphere!

Food is amazing.and the team ate happy to adjust when required.

Thanks to all.an amazing, relaxing and memorable stay

This hotel is fine, but not 5 star. The pictures of the rooms online are quite deceiving- they do not look like this in real life. The shower and toilet is outside which means it is not air conditioned and gets very hot, also lets in lots of mosquitos. The pool is nice but was not particularly clean, also weirdly the ‘infinity’ view to the sea is blocked by a hedge. There is no do not disturb sign for the rooms. Breakfast was nice, bed was comfy. Staff here are great. We got charged for drinking water from the fridge which was annoying as water outside the fridge was complimentary and this was not clear (£1.50 per small bottle!). The wifi is very slow and disconnects a lot. We had an alright stay here but honestly having been to many hotels in Thailand for the price you’re better off staying somewhere else / going to a cheaper hotel which has the exact same facilities.

We recently stayed for our honeymoon. We were not expecting to love this place as much as we did and wish we had booked a longer stay when we left. The staff were incredible, so friendly, polite, welcoming and accommodating. The pool area is so well maintained and relaxing. The room was lovely, bed was very comfortable. Highly recommend this hotel.
