Khao Sok Country Resort

The only reason the service gets 1/5 is because of the driver that picked up us at the airport. We’ve never experienced a driver, who drive so dangerous and I know that the driving in Thailand is a bit different from Europe, but this was not okay. We almost either crashed 2 times or almost drove into a scooter on the road, because he was so focused on just getting in front of everyone on the road. We told him to slow down 4 times and he just speeded up again everytime. This review is only made to warn anyone else about choosing pickup from the hotel.
The hotel was nice, clean and we got our laundry done here, which came back nicely folded and clean.

Didnt stay in the accommodation.but: Fantastic local atmosphere bar. We came almost every night of our stay for cocktails and drinks. Many locals enjoying beers and playing guitar. If you want a break from all the tourists this is your spot!

Quiet room, access to nice pool. And fantastic, helpful staff if you need to arrange anything. Great value for money

I stayed here for 12 nights and it was right in the centre of all the action towards the national park. Lots of shops/bars/restaurants/cash machine/pharmacy around. Walking distance to the national park. Lots of tour guides in the area. The hotel itself was absolutely lovely. I recommend staying in one of the double mountain view rooms. You get your own veranda / balcony. The pool was amazing, surrounded by nature and very quiet. It has a deep end which I really appreciate when I'm swimming:). The staff are amazing! Very friendly. You get bottled water and toilet paper delivered to your room every day, and the staff will come and clean the room / change the bedding at your request. They offer a laundry service which is the best price I've seen in Thailand so far. The area is quiet. Even though there is a bar across the street - you cannot hear the music from your room. The rooms are really soundproof:). The curtains are blackout, I had one of the best nights sleep I've had in Thailand so far. I just love this place, I cannot state it enough! PS. Pawns restaurant across the street is delicious. And Nature's Touch massage just next door is one of the best massages I've ever had!

Hotel located in the central street of restaurants, well located but if you want to visit Kao Sok it is more than an hour by truck to the park, I would consider staying in another area if you plan to go to the islands of the gulf later, perhaps Surat thani.

The hotel was WET, everything was wet. The clothes do not dry if you hang them on the balcony but the clothes you leave inside the room will also get wet. The bed was comfortable. Old rooms and facilities. They have a hairdryer but you have to ask for it. ALERT, in the room there is a notice informing that you do not leave valuables in the room since if they steal from you they will not be responsible…. NO LONGER SLEEP PEACEFUL….

We contracted with the owner a taxi, hotel, excursions and transfer to Ko Tao, we asked her for a little discount and she refused. I asked him if he could apply less than 3% to us for using the credit card and he also refused. It does not seem right.

The taxi driver we ordered to pick us up from the airport drove like crazy, we didn't have a miracle accident. The excursion to the national park also contracted by her was a disaster, I did not like the treatment of the guide at all. In the end they only care about money not offering a good service.

The only good thing about the hotel was the receptionist who was kind to us always.

We stayed in the country resort one night before our lake tour. The lady (owner) was really nice and helped us to book the lake tour and gave us information we needed.

Room was nice and clean and reasonably priced. Would definitely stay here again if going to khao sok.

Shower is not separated from the toilet and the sink, so your whole bathroom will be wet after a shower. The staff was wrong about bus departure times from Khao Sok to Phuket and we had to wait 2 hours on the main road for the bus to come. Don't book the lake tour at the hotel, just walk over the bridge towards the entrance of the national park and book it there for a cheaper price, the cheapest we found was 1400 baht, and it included everything (the park fee, the meal, transfer)

Best food in town. I have tried the most restaurants here, and my own hotel/hostel eventually scored the best. Try the (usual) pad thai with shrimp or banana pancake for breakfast.

Sleeping is OK but cheap. Had the dorm for myself (200bht). Though no privacy of you may share it. Great pool though!

The last day they almost caused us to miss our flight.
We told them we need a ride to the bus station, we bought our tickets online, our bus is at 7AM the next day, so we need to leave at 06: 15. We have to be on that bus because it will take us to the train which will take us to Bangkok and we catch our flight. We miss the buss, then we miss the train and we miss the flight. They said we can drive you, no need to arrange a taxi.
Next morning we come to reception, there is no one. 06: 25 finally lady comes, returns our deposit and tells us "Sorry, we dont have a driver right now. "
So? ! You told us you will arrange it and we are already late. She makes phone calls, no twxi available. Its 06: 35 and she tells us, "It's ok, bus will come pick u up from here, but you need to pay 100 baht. " We say okay, we dont care we need to be in that bus. She says "They will pick u up and go to Surat thani airport directly. ". Wait. WHAT?
We dont have a ticket for airport bus, we have a ticket for Suratthani Train station.
"Oh. "
In the end we had to walk to the bus station with our luggages.
Good way to wake up on your last day huh?

Except this.
When we checked in, shower drain was not cleaned, was completely covered with hair and clogged and smelly.
Room service comes too late mostly when you are in the room. Sad to see a school age kid helping in the room service.
Pool is nice, restaurant is cheap.

LIKE: Very big room with nice lawn and terrace our front. Great with kids.
House keeping and free water every day.
Friendly and helpful owners and staff. Assisted us with scooter rental and transfer to next destination. Both thing worked really well and the prices were reasonable.
Free breakfast and drybags for tour.
We highly recommend hiring scooters and take an tour of the beautiful area.
Short walk to the national Park.
The restaurant at the resort is good with fair prices.
On the last night we had dinner at Lap ROI-ET up the street towards the park and it's one of the absolutely best places we've been to during our 2,5 months in Thailand. You have to try it yourself!

DISLIKE: Pool out of order first day.
Moldy smell in the room and dark stains on the wall.
Cigarette smoke/smell from outside coming in through the AC at times.
Lake tour sold by resort was with group too big for our liking (22 people plus guides in one boat) which made us feel like sheep at times.
No respons to any messages we sent before our stay.

Awesome dorms and staff. They gave me a free breakfast and water before my lake tour. I could also borrow a dry bag and towel. They made sure I had a bed in the dorm for when I came back from the tour.

The room and bathroom was quite big but was a bit smelly. Unfortunately the bed was dirty (yellow spots) and also the towels didn't look clean. In the bathroom is the shower and drain at opposite side of each other so if you take a shower, the whole bathroom gets wet.

We chose this Resort for the swimming pool but it was very small and the beds were taken all day long.

Clean, pleasant rooms that were spacious. Though bathroom setup was a bit awkward—shower was not as hot as I would love and almost spraying on toilet seat. Bugs did get it, but you’re living in a jungle after all!

Location good no fridge in the room and bathroom badly set up shower in the wrong place and no wall socket

Staff was rude and Showed no Manners or problem solving solutions after ruining my white clothes and charging too much money for it (90 Bath per kg, paid 360 Bath because of wet clothes = 10 Euro). I didnt have a room at khao sok country resort but i walked in for doing my laundry. If I quote the manager than basically I ruïned my own clothes and I need to pay for iT because im a tourist and have more money than they do.

My advice is NOT to do your laundry at Khao Sok Country club.
