Goodtime Beach Backpackers / Bodega Hostel

If I could give 0 stars I would. The only positive is they gave me a refund, because I arrived and immediately checked out. The vibe is poor and the beach isn’t great. Rooms are DISGUSTING. Black mold in the bathrooms and they smelled like puke. Moldy towels with brown and red stains. The ladder was rusty, broken and dangerous. A/C was not cold. “Lockers” don’t have locks. This place is like jail, avoid it like the plague…in fact, you might get sick staying here. NOPE NOPE NOPE!

If you care about people, please do not stay at this hostel! Owned by a sociopath that abuses and uses all the local staff! He does not pay staff and is a disgrace to the earth! If you can stay elsewhere I highly recommended it! This company is the disgrace of the earth and you SHOULD NOT STAY HERE OF ANY OF THEM! - verified ex management

Couple of things you need to ask yourself before coming here:

Do you love sitting around the pool and listening to the same 40 minute playlist on repeat that is nearly entirely Katy Perry and Taylor Swift starting at 10am? (Please bloody change the playlist)

Do you love half the beach being in your dorm and not having it swept out or the bin in the bathroom emptied?

As well as pretty much no effort going into vibe unless it's fullmoon or jungle party?

Then this is the place for you!

Otherwise I would recommend only staying on the nights when events are on which was done well. The place really needs to be updated it's very tired and worn.

Very cool and relaxing place with great vibes to enjoy without any moderation. Perfect location and directly on the beach facing Samui island

The place is ok for the money. But it isn't very clean. There's no water to have a shower in the dorms in the mornings. Good location

Right on the beach, friendly staff, pool, hammocks, pool, beer pong, absolutely everything you need in one place! Can rent motorbikes right from them as well.

Goodtime hostel is right on the beach, with the most beautiful views, laid-back vibes + a really good location in Ban Tai. The atmosphere is young and super fun and we found it easy to meet new people. The staff was extremely helpful with organising activities (games on the beach, bonfire, movie night, BBQ dinner) as well as recommending where to go and what to do around Koh Phangan. Would definitely stay again!

We went to book room and the staff at the reception was super arrogant and impolite with us … we appreciate the warm welcome we go next door for sure!

Party hostel! Bad beds, you can feel every metal spring in the mattress. The roommates are often drunk and stoned and show little consideration for those sleeping in the dorms. Cleanliness is very neglected! The shabbiest bodega I've been to so far!
Cheap at around 4 USD per night, but at the expense of quality.

We attended pre fullmoon party (11.09.2022) with group of solo travelers from Phuket. Staff were really nice. Buckets are awesome. Beer pong, pool and other activities. Everything has finished by 23: 30, just because everybody was up to haad rin party Fullmoon.

P.s.: i would rather come there by bike or taxi, either then personal car. Its quite difficult to park there and also road wasnt good mainted, but still its not a question for Bodega staff.

We stayed here outside of Full Moon party, during a quieter time of the month and it was 10/10!
The staff are all good fun and super helpful! You need bikes? They've got you. You need to find a waterfall? They've got you.
The hostel has an fantastic food menu that is super affordable, quick and really good quality. Big ups to the chef:)

The rooms and bathrooms are super clean and comfortable as well. Lockers in every room. The bar and pool is right on the beach, one of the best sunsets you will see with views of Koh Samui! More of a resort than a hostel!

My one and only complaint is that the staff are all way too good at pool and will put you to shame.

Will definitely be visiting again.

The stay was really amazing. I had a great time especially because of Cheera, JJ, Fluke Leo and Wi. The staff was amazing and they love to party. Will most definetly come back.

Amazing place, staff always go out of their way for everyone and was a lot more relaxing than other places in ko phangan

Amazingly friendly staff, except for one dour dude. Mung (Em) is the best! Great interaction with other guests at this self-described party hostel. Pool and location right on beach are great. No WiFi in rooms - unusable for working as a digital nomad. Private-private bungalows are separate, elevated, wood structures. A/C and hot water work, but otherwise very basic. Bar and food on premises are convenient, but pricing is much higher than hostel level.

Absolutely loved my time here. Despite it being a party hostel, there was a no pressure approach like other hostels I’ve been to. On the days I didn’t party I relaxed on the hammock right next to the beach. All the staff were super friendly and helpful. A big shout out to em, who even on her days off was still coming in and helping, and even showed me some cool places to eat and spots around koh phangan. Will one hundred percent visit here again next full moon.

Fantastic staff, super friendly and fun environment! Expect to plan for a day or two and stay instead for a week or two ;) Whether you're a budget backpacker looking for a party or looking for a nice beach bungalow to quietly laze away on a beautiful beach, look no further!

Great place to chill, private beachfront and not accessible for under 18, so no screaming children around. Relaxed atmosphere, perfect for young people!

Great vibe of hostel by the beach with a very nice swimming pool. It has hammocks for you to chill by the beach. Would definitely stay again.
