The elephants are picked by the guides so that they pose with the tourists like in the circus

Sadly this was my first time seeing elephants with higher expectations. Not knowing much I learnt right away through friends showing me that these elephants were forced to pose, position and how to interact. The eldest was clearly troubled and stressed. None the less we did our best for the elephants to avoid poses and photos. After the feeding we were sat down while the elephants were forced over to the watering station I asked if we could walk with them to which we were told no (clearly forced). On top of the poor ethical standards our time of the hour and a half was not upheld and was cut short to merely just over an hour, unethical animal abusers and scammers. Never again.

Was a great impression. Still a bad aftertaste. Some elephant show included.

The guide was very good and a lot of pictures were taken with our smartphone. All at no additional cost.

It was good that it was really limited to small groups. The elephants seemed stress-free. (As far as I can tell)

Horrible place - elephants bred in captivity, trained and then made to perform tricks for tourists. The whole “sanctuary” thing is a gimmick, it is really just a money making scheme for the owners who want you to give generous tips on top of the £55+ fee already charged. Elephants are chained up and look miserable. Please DO NOT COME HERE.

Incredible experience!

We went for the full package, we got to make the elephants their special feed, we played in the mud together as a couple with one of the elephants.
We cooked a Pad Thai and had a private dinner over looking the island.
The tour guides were absolutely amazing, full of energy, really friendly.

If you deciding on which package, we would suggest just going all out as its really helps the park and the experience is a lot more private and you get a lot more one to one time with the elephants.

STAY AWAY!
These poor elephants are not rescued, they are bred in captivity to be abused and exploited. If you read this and still go to this “sanctuary”, you are guilty 100% of abusing these poor animals.
They are chained down every night and intimidated using barbaric methods to get them to comply with the endless number of tourists who wish to interact with them.

A fantastic experience where the elephant welfare comes first. Pang Pang was a great host and told us so much and looked after us.

Amazing place with elephants. They take good care of 2 elephants at this moment. They rescue them from circus to give them a good life. The host is very funny and know a lot about elephants. You can bath and shower with the elephants and after have a nice lunch with an incredible view as a bonus as it is at hearth shape rock.

These poor elephants are abused. They’re chained at night and are in pain, mentally and physically. Tourists should not be washing them and riding them. Please visit Samui Elephant Sanctuary which is ethical if you want to interact with elephants. Supporting this business means supporting animal abuse.

If there is one activity to do with family, friends, or as a couple, it is meeting elephants, it is a very emotional moment to take care of these majestic animals, they have something endearing and touching at the same time and it is an experience that remains engraved in the memory and in the hearts. Bing Thank You to Samy and his team. Marie and Patrick and friends Catherine and Gilbert

Went here Feb 2019, awesome experience. The elephants looked happy and well taken care of. We fed them, gave the a mud bath, then a wash. Lunch was very good at another location. Best to wear sock like shoes or barefeet for the mud bath, crocs will get stuck in the mud.

Wonderful experience and close interaction with elephants! Not only a fun time for us and the elephants, we had a fantastic lunch in the jungle mountains. 5*!

These elephants are mentally broken way way before you will arrive and shackled by their ankles at night when you leave.

Truly wonderful experience. They house and care for three elephants age 4-8 years old. As a group you prep their meal (bananas, rice, pumpkin and various herb for health) and then get to feed them by hand.

Next you get to give the elephants a mud bath and scrub, followed by a playful session in a fresh water pool.

The elephants are very happy, friendly and you can tell the trainers and staff care about them. It’s a remarkable bond and well worth the cost of admission (3,000 baht per adult / $100 USD) for a nearly two hour session.

Must visit when traveling to Ko Samui.
