Eight Koh Tao

For the price you can't complain, small, cute room, two fans, very clean and warm water. You can also refill your water bottle for free at reception and the staff are real angels, so if you're looking for cheap accommodation in Koh Tao I can only recommend it

A room from a horror movie.
The walls are full of dirt, hand stains, last time they paint it, Jesus was alive, mould everywhere, black spider webs full of dust from ages ago, only one power outlet, so you charge your phone, or you turn on the fan.
No a/c, no soap, no toilet paper, and of course no hot water.
Cheapest place on the island, if you don’t mind staying in this horrible room, but for a few more bahts you can have something waaay better than this.

This place is HORRIBLE.
And that's coming from a seasoned traveler who has seen a lot. I have stayed in my fair share of budget accommodation, but this was just dangerous. The walls are covered in black mold and water damage. The facilities are not in good shape and even dangerous to use. The sheets were dirty. I checked in and checked out 2 hours later.

Also, the lady running it does not care ad all. She wouldn't give a refund or address the problem. Was not apologetic ad all.did not seem to understand that there was a problem with the state of the room.

PLEASE DO NOT BOOK THIS PLACE!

I have been in Asia for 5 months, traveled and tried many budget accommodation, but never like this!
Mold and humidity in the room. Not comfortable bed. And the first two days water in fits and starts.
I only recommend it if you are ready to compromise to pay little.
Non existent customer service on Booking on their side.

To review! Homestay super well placed 4min walk from the port and in the quiet side of the island but for the rest it is a disaster.
I am a student and my boyfriend too so we do not have the means to change accommodation when discovering the place.the room is moldy (walls and ceilings), poorly ventilated (musty smell, bathing suits do not dry overnight), no furniture (no bed base, just two mattresses stacked on the floor, no mental door, no chair, not even a semblance of furniture to put the bag), 1 outlet out of the 3 that works, and then comes the worst: water. It's a problem on the island so you have to be careful but still! No water the first two days so after the sea it's not very cool, it worked on the 3rd day and the 4th the water was accompanied by soil, concept of taking a shower to be reviewed! Toilet leak comparable to the famous Geneva water jet.obviously we asked every day for each of these problems, to find a solution or to change rooms but the service of the hosts is ridiculous and non-existent… disappointing

Excellent for the price you pay. A little bit noisy cause it's near a main road but worth it cause it's super centric

Not too bad, the price is good and it worth for the price you pay. The bathroom is terrorific but if you stay just one night it's enough:) By the way, location is perfect

Disgusting!
The whole room was full of mold and it stank so much. We had to cough from the moment we entered.
It is not a surprise that we had to pay in advance, because if someone sees this room, they run away immediately.
If your health is important to you stay away this place!

Horrible. The room reeked of mold, unbearable smell, building site right in front of the bedroom window (literally 1m away). Walls really dirty (drips just above the pillow), mold in the bathroom.

If you don't mind a cold shower and a not so comy bed then yeah, 2 thumbs up from me! Price is what attracted us to this accommodation and for 8 bucks a night for a private room we were 2 happy chaps. Cheapest accom on the island and close to the pier.

Horrible and a health hazard. Moldy and stinks of it everywhere with a bathroom cieling thats falling in and rusty, unclean toilet, cocoons of bugs and dust. Its actually disgusting. We tried staying a night because you don't get a refund but couldnt as we both got headaches from the stench of mold. This is not accomodation you pay for, its an endurance test not worth taking.
We get its budget friendly but PLEASE do yourselves a favour and stay somewhere else.

Disgusting! All these good reviews seem to almost all be from before the pandemic. It feels like this place has been left and barely cleaned in those 3 years and that's what we stayed in. Mold so much mold! It stank to high heaven and that's not mentioning the bathroom. Really gross and I don't think they cleaned the toilet as it was full of brown dirt. We thought we were saving money on this but we've had to fork out to stay somewhere else with no refund on this place. Horrible. Avoid!

This place is basic but really good. You get a good room for the money your paying which is the lowest in Koh Tao by a long way! As long as your not wanting luxery this place is good. The owner is really sound aswell. Got a good view from our room also and you get free drinking water downstaires.

Maybe 3 years ago okay, but completely inhabitable. The bathroom covered in mold with the sink falling a part and tiles poking out just asking to cut yourself. Aircon room, however not working properly and both pillows covered in mold. (Black!). Tried to politely leave and was shown another room with same issues. Doesn't match the pictures online for "double room". There was no bed on concrete but instead a wobbly steel frame. Would have stayed if it weren't for the mold issue on the pillows. No refund either. For a common traveller that understands living on a budget, just unimpressed to think they are okay putting people in these type of rooms.

Awful, 4 men travelling Asia, booked 2 rooms. To be told on entry there was only 1 room, leaving 4 men to share 1 double bed, with no aircon and a fan that doesn't work. I will never be staying again!

Me and my husband had a private room for 230b/night. Nice small room with air condition and toilet with shower. We got towels and toilet paper. Bed was not so comfortable but after puting down the bed and sleeping just on the mattres was good. We stayed 4 nights. Cheapest hostel on the island, water for free.

No AC but the place is wonderful! Spacious and friendly and ina great location! Awesome staff too!

Super chill hostel. One of the best on the island and the owner Jan is so nice. Loved hanging out here
