Bar Mad Sum Island

Located on Pig Island. Can be very busy but plenty of pigs and dogs to feed if you want. Bar is just a small hut selling drinks. You can hire jet skis next door.

Unfortunately, this is a very blatant tourist trap.
It's actually a pig farm (they aren't wild) with an overpriced bar and nothing to do except buy drinks or food for the pigs.

Our tour stopped here for 2 hours, far longer than you need to see a lifetime's worth of pigs.

Most of the pigs are nice enough, but a few aren't and will bite hard enough to draw blood if you're holding food.

The toilets are the worst I saw in our entire trip to Thailand, and if you stray round the island a bit you'll see mountains of garbage along the shore.

At least you'll get some nice pics for instagram. And maybe a 200thb coconut drink.

Definitely worth a visit. But I recommend it very early in the morning because after 10 a.m. It gets so crowded that it's no fun. We did this on our own and rented a boat and driver for 1500 Bath. You can then stay as long as you want and don't have to do any other tours.

Funny place the pigs are very cute.wonderful sea, soft sand, a place different from others, beautiful journey by boat, many islands around.

Absolutely recommended, you have to see it, but you should definitely not book a speedbot tour there, but booking this tour with a local local is a lot cheaper and better

Am besten man bucht sich eine private tour. So hat man zeit.
Die Schweine sind echt schön anzusehen.
Das Essen ist auch in Ordnung.

Visited as part of a tour with 3 adults and 2 kids. Staff really rude. No food available despite being only location on tour that had food. Really not good. Cannot avoid this place other than to bring a packed lunch with you: which I would advise!

Most Thai places are so friendly, but these people were not nice at all and really put a dampener on our trip to the island.

Amazing experience with the local pigs, larger pigs can get aggressive towards smaller pigs when food is around

I know this island from 10 years ago. At that time it was still very quiet and beautiful here. Today just overrun by tourists. The pigs that have been released here make this island a tourist attraction. You've never seen pigs before.

Wir haben Koh Mad Sum auf eigene Faust erkundet, ohne eine Tour zu buchen.

Wir sind morgens mit dem Roller zum Thong Krut Pier gefahren. Dort konnten wir uns eine private Überfahrt mit dem Longtailboot für 1.600 baht erwerben. Wir hatten also einen privaten Fahrer, der nur für uns zuständig war. Für unseren Trip hatten wir 4 Stunden Zeit.

Auf der Hinfahrt konnten wir einen Zwischenstopp an der Insel Koh Taen zum Schnorcheln machen. Dies haben wir aber nicht und können dazu leider auch nichts sagen.

Dann sind wir direkt weiter nach Koh Mad Sun. Die Überfahrt dauert ca. 25 Minuten.

Es kostet 50 baht Eintritt pro Person, dafür bekommt man aber auch ein Wasser zum Trinken.

Es ist mittlerweile ein typischer Touristenhotspot. Es gibt ein kleines Restaurant. Die Preise sind dementsprechend etwas höher. Man kann dort aber auch einen Platz/Tisch besetzen ohne etwas zu bestellen - man wird zu nichts genötigt.

Der Strand ist weitläufig aber sehr kieselig, das Wasser strahlend türkis. Hier kann man ein paar schöne Fotos machen.

Leider ist die Umgebung um das Restaurant nicht sehr sauber - sind wir in Thailand aber mittlerweile dran gewöhnt.

Das Highlight des Ausflugs sind - wie der Name schon sagt - die Schweine, die sich auf der Insel (rund ums Restaurant), frei bewegen und sehr zutraulich sind.
Als wir dort waren, waren gerade 9 kleine Ferkel da.

Fazit: ohne die Schweine, keine Reise wert. Der Chaweng-Beach ist sauberer und schöner.

It’s a nice beach but that’s it. A lot of people are on that small beach and some pigs running around!

To enter the island the fee is 50 bath. Don’t recommend that place!

Beautiful piece of paradise with little hut bar place, sun beds, umbrellas, some water fun activities. Wild pigs all around the beach. Stunning views and landscapes around. Shiny white beach with turquoise sea around. Just enjoy tranquility and peace all around. Fantastic place for relaxation and stop by on your trip.

Awesome atmosphere on pig island, for the only bar on the island the beers and food are really cheap and ice cold. They pigs wander around you while relaxing on bannana chairs or swimming in the water. I will 100% visit this place again.
