The Theatre Villa

We were staying with two small kids, who eventually got a stomach bug with fever and vomiting. Apparently there was too much laundry and noise from the baby crying, as the owners literally kicked us out saying we would be better off in Huahin. Our 1,5y old was still having fever but we had to leave anyhow. I was appalled, never came across anything like it before. The couple act friendly but it's only the surface. They're not good people at all.

I’ve been a resident of Chiang Mai for seven years, have traveled extensively. Every year I spend a month away, from mid March to mid April, on the beach. Most years I’ve gone to Koh Samui, but this year I decide on Cha Am. It’s a laid back beach town, my hotel was forgettable, and the streets are infested with wild feral dogs, one of which bit on the 4th day. I needed to get the hell out of there, and while scanning other beach hotels, I came upon The Theatre Villa in Bang Saphan, which had mostly 10.0 ratings on Trip Advisor. I had never heard of Bang Saphan, since it was about 250 km south of Cha Am in the middle of nowhere. I booked a couple nights and got on the bus. I supposed if I had done better planning I wouldn’t have been dropped off on the side of the highway. Having no idea where I was, I called the resort. The owners had no problem driving 32 km to pick me up. For free.

The Theatre Resort is right on the beach and has ten rooms. The host and chef Jane is the most gracious woman you’ll ever meet; her gardener husband a wonderful man. After the first night in the good room overlooking the ocean, Jane offered to upgrade me to one of the two Superior rooms, twice the size at the same price. The price included a custom breakfast and platters of fruit, endless coffee and, my god, what a wonderful way to start a day. Actually I started each morning at 7am with a 4km walk on the beach; pretty much no people, no crowds, and for sure no biting dogs. Jane's dinners were always so delicious. Aroi mak mak! I Ioved it there so much, I ended up staying for three weeks, and wanted to stay forever and be a part of Jane’s family, it was that great. They made me their VIP guest, someone the whole staff fussed over, like only once before, at the Art Hotel in Hanoi. The beach at Bang Saphan is a special hidden treasure in Thailand, for sure. If you ever want to really get away, and be treated in the most special way, I highly recommend The Theater Villa in Bang Saphan.

Value for money. Nothing spectacular about the facility but the owner and staffs are very hospitable and service minded and made me feel like home. Clean room, well maintained. Quiet beach. Tasty dinner with reasonable price; had good breakfast with plenty of fruits. Don't usually give 5 star-rating but we had a pleasant stay. Will definitely come back.

I made only one mistake in booking there, we only booked for one night, after 1 hour there we wanted to extend our stay but the beach side room that we had was booked for the next day. Fantastic little resort with a real family feel because of the ultra friendly staff/owner, who made us feel welcome from the minute we arrived and attended to our every need. The beach is deserted but clean and lovely to sit and walk on. The breakfast with the homemade bread, great coffee and extended choice of exotic fruit was top notch. Would love to return one day.

A quiet and quirky little establishment right on the beach - well worth a few days of R & R. Make sure to book one of the 2 ground floor, sea facing rooms either way all the other rooms are ok.

Cozy rooms. Very nice atmosphere. Excellent staff and service. Safe to park a car, lovely beach, and wonderful breakfast. Would recommend to anyone. Family or couples.

A quaint, charming place, with a beautiful beach view. The owner is a wonderful hostess, and goes out of her way to accommodate everyone. She will arrange excursions for you, too. The food was great, but during the of season, the owner is the cook and waitress also, so service is a laid back pace. (That did not bother us, since we were on a laid back vacation). The beach is nice except for some rocks which are pretty sharp- go up or down the beach 50 meters and it's fine. The Wi-Fi was good, the rooms were very clean, and or stay was great. We highly recommend theatre villa!

Wonderful place to stay for quite holiday. Very nice people here. Rooms are very nice and clean. Beach is beautiful and clean.
