Tham Pha Tub Forest Park

This place is a really undiscovered spot for those who like to hike for a view. It’s location is perfect if you’re staying in Nan centre and have a moped to hand.
There is a map of the park at the entrance.
Whilst there are paths marked out, the maintenance of these paths isn’t the best. We went up to see the caves first but after one cave turned back around because a big fallen tree was blocking the path. We then went up another path to a viewpoint, this is quite a hike but definitely doable for people of reasonable fitness. There are no views on the way up due to the forest trees and unfortunately we turned back just shy of the summit because we saw a big snake disappear under a bed of leaves that was in our path with no clear way around. I was gutted we didn’t make it to the top, but I managed to scramble up some other rocks and can confirm that the view from the top will be spectacular, you can see hilltops for miles.
Something to note is that we have come at the end of Jan/start of Feb and the ground is covered in a deep layer of fallen leaves. This made the path a lot more slippery than usual and made us much more wary of snakes that may be hiding under them (like the one we saw near the summit!) (see photos).
We didn’t see another visitor at the park the entire time we were there which was surprising but made it a peaceful trip.
The path is clearly marked from the entrance and has blue arrows to show the path to the top.

2023-01-24 หลังจากขับรถผ่านสนามบินน่านไม่นาน ก็พบเจอกับอุทยานแห่งชาติถ้ำผาตูบ เลยวนรถกลับมาชม

ตัวอช. นี้เข้าชมฟรี มีถ้ำและจุดชมวิว ที่ต้องเดินไปจนสุดที่ระยะ ๑๒๐๐เมตร โดยน่าจะต้องปีนไปอีกเยอะ วันนี้แค่แวะ มีเวลาจำกัดเดินไปแค่ถ้ำพระ ถ้ำแรกๆ ก็พาเอาขาสั่นแล้ว ทางเดินดูพิจารณาตามภาพนะ เอาไว้แวะพักผ่อนศึกษาธรรมชาติได้

I enjoyed exploring around this beautiful park. There is afew caves to see and some beautiful walking tracks. Be careful what way you walk as there is not many signs. A couple of caves were cool to see. One that was tough to get to was very underwhelming up a big hill. I did not see one other person the whole 3 hours I was there so be careful if on own like me.

วนอุทยานถ้ำผาตูบ ในจังหวัดน่าน ขับรถออกนอกตัวเมืองไปประมาณ 15 นาทีจะอยู่ทางด้านซ้ายมือร่มรื่นต้นไม้ใหญ่สวยงามมากเดินขึ้นเขาไปประมาณ 10 ถึง 15 นาทีก็จะมีถ้ำและมีพระอยู่ข้างในถ้ำมี. ให้แวะเข้าไปเที่ยวชมหลายแห่งแต่เราไม่ได้เข้าไปเนื่องจากต้องเดินทางไปสถานที่อื่นอีกถ้าเข้าไปลึกลึกน่าจะสวยกว่านี้มากเราไปเที่ยวชมดูกันนะคะข้างในค่ำเย็นมากแล้วก็มืดมากแต่มีไฟสามารถเปิดไฟได้

Small forest park, and free entry. There are quite a few caves to look in, and interesting and fairly steep trails to walk to the caves. Inside one cave you can climb right up to the top, but is maybe a little dangerous.
We found a snake-skin, and also saw a few spiders - many small tube /sheet web spiders.
You should wear sensible or good walking shoes if you want to see the caves.

วนอุทยานถ้ำผาตูบ มีถ้ำหลายถ้ำที่น่าไปเยือน ถ้ำพระมีพระพุทธรูป ห้องกว้างขวาง มีแท่นสำหรับพระปฏิบัติธรรม เงียบสงบ อากาศดี

เป็นถ้ำที่มีตรอกซอกซอยเยอะหน่อยแต่ก็ไม่มีอะไรตื่นตาตื่นใจมากมายเดินได้หอบอยู่ คิดว่าสายวิ่งเทลน่าจะชอบ

Walked up with 5 years old twins, surprised that they love it. Easy walk up with some steep stairs. You will get to see small Buddha statues inside caves.

Nice relaxing cave system just north of Nan city. Pairs well with a stop at the art gallery nearby

มาจากทางเชียงม่วน มาน่านเส้นทางสูงชันโค้งใช้ได้เลยขี่สนุกถ้าไม่ประมาท จะเข้านานอยู่แล้วมีสามแยกมาป้ายบอกทาง เลยแวะเข้ามา 8 กม. ถึง อช. ทางดี มาที่ด่านวัดไข้ ไม่เสียตัง แต่เดินดูได้แค่ด้านล่างยังไม่ให้ขึ้นไปดูบนถ้ำ ก็เดินดูออกกำลังไปในตัวด้วย พอเห็นทางขึ้นถึงให้ขึ้นกะไม่ขึ้นอ่ะ ไม่ชันอะไร แต่คงลื่นน่าดู เรา สว. ไม่อยากล้ม กลัว อันตราย 555 ตะไคร่ ขึ้นเขียวปี้เลยทางทางขึ้น เห็นมีลานกางเต็นท์ ลานกิจกรรม ห้องน้ำ สำนักงาน ป่าเขียวไปหมด เย็นๆยุงเยอะแน่ๆ ร่มรื่น เงียบ สงบ อยู่ใกล้ตัวเมืองน่าน เหมาะมาดูถ้ำ ถ้ำปิด จบ ไปละ 555

ที่เที่ยวธรรมชาติออกแนวแอดเวนเจอร์ ต้องปีนป่ายขึ้นเขาไปเข้าถ้ำ อยู่ไม่ไกลจากตัวเมืองน่านเท่าไหร่ค่ะ

ทางเดินขาดการดูแลรักษา แต่ก็ได้ธรรมชาติแบบดิบๆดีค่ะ

เดินเข้าไปต้องระวังหน่อย เพราะทางชัน ขั้นเดินสูง ข้างในมีหลายถ้ำ แล้วแต่ระยะทาง ถ้ามีเวลามากแนะนำไปลองชมดูค่ะ

Not a walk in the park, I would say. But rewarding experience and nice caves to explore. With some effort and a bit of careful climbing here and there. Prepare to explore for an entire day (or a couple of hours if you satisfy with some of the nearest caves) and make sure to have good shoes, flashlights and maybe gloves to protect your hands from the pretty sharp rocks you may need to grab hold of as you make your way through the paths up to the caves. Water is another essential as you will definitely need to replace what you loose. All the best with your cave explorations.
