El Greco - Greek Taverna reviews
59Guys, GO HERE! With many places in Koh Lanta closed right now due to the lack of tourists, this restaurant and its amazingly friendly owner welcomed me and my fiancé with open arms on December 21st. The menu was limited (obviously) but what they served was on the other hand delicious and extremely authentic Greek. We had the best Greek salad and souvlaki here outside of Greece. The prices were very reasonable too, so in times like these, go here and support one of the brave souls still keeping his place open for us.
The pictures don’t do this place justice. We got takeaway on our way to the ferry and all of us said WOW - not only did they look impressive but they tasted AMAZING all the way until the last bite. She told us everything is homemade - including the pita bread - and you can taste it. Our takeaways actually came out surprisingly quick, too. I had the vegetarian souvlaki and the two i was with had The lamb gyros. THANK YOU for the delicious food and speedy takeaway! 10/10!
Delicious vegan options. We shared Vegan Imam (w/o feta), Fresh Salad with olive oil dressing and a pita. Incredible satisfying and authentic Greek. Thanks
Very nice and relaxing place to stop by when visiting Koh Lanta. Good Greek music and delicious food. Staff and owner was very friendly, we felt welcomed.
It's a good break from the Thai food but the local cuisine of Mykonos it is not. Stick with the schwarmas and you'll be ok.
I like it, but my girlfriend not so much because food was quite salty. I normally eat quite salty and for me was at limit, so for other persons can be too much. But we didn't ask before for low salt.
Lovely Greek food and atmosphere! Friendly staff with a nice Greek owner, feels very traditional. I had the chicken souvlaki which was delicious, my dad had the moussaka which was also delicious! Good portions and reasonable price. I went back the following night for a takeaway I enjoyed it that much! Would recommend
Delicious chicken kebabs. Tasted so fresh. Staff was really welcoming and warm. Set back just from the street. Neat setting. Decent price for how amazing the food was. The pictures definitely do this credit!
Absolute rubbish, food was allful, ordered a meat Plata for 2, it arrived within 5 minutes, it had obviously been cooked earlier and then warmed up.
After being in Thailand for few weeks we wanted to taste a bit different flavours and spices. Lots of mixed reviews for El Greco, we recognize that diversity of the nationalities, taste and experiences not to mention that we all have different expectations. We should have paid more attention to the 1 and 2 star reviews. If you like high sodium in your diet, this is your place! The tzatziki treated so strange, no sign of Greek yogurt or cucumbers, lacking lemon juice. Pita bread was coated in salt, inside was supposed to be chicken souvlaki (marinated spliced chicken kebab). Someone forgot to mention that to the kitchen staff. Instead we experienced a new version: sliced up cooked chicken with no seasoning. What a great disappointment for a non Thai food.
Sad to say but this was our worst meal in Thailand so far.
Pitta bread is not exactly the same as in Greece, but still a very good place to eat if you like greek food.
He is best owner of Thailand and very friendly foods so delicious I fallen in love never want to leave
Our family of three thoroughly enjoyed this restaurant. The Greek burger with feta has great flavor.thoroughly enjoyed it. The red wine was also better than most places we've tried in Koh Lanta. Our seven year old, who is pretty adventurous for her age, really loved the kids menu meatballs. Unlike most kids menu food, her dish was flavorful and moist with a fine mix of herbs - quite good. We will definitely be going back!
What a fantastic Greek Taverna on Lanta, loved the food just what the doctor ordered after traveling around SEA for 10 weeks
If you ever been to greece this is reallly disappointing! How could you add vinegar to a salad when you serve it? When we ask for another one without vinegar we where told that this is the way it is done:) we ask and paid for another one without dressing! I really hate vinegar in my salad, a lot of it! The fries where a joke! Almost raw. The only thing that was ok.ish was the meat, but with that kind of atitude of the owner we definitely would not go back and would not recomand to anybody! Greek restaurant owner know how to treat their customers!
Beautiful food, lovely owners and great service. I highly recommend the Lamb Gyro. So full of flavour and very good price. The chocolate pudding is also amazing! We will return!
BEWARE.ordered the lamb gyros, very quickly realised it was not lamb, it was actually duck being sold as lamb.
Pitta bread very good. One of the pricier meals we had on koh lanta, which I wouldn't have minded so much if it had actually been lamb.
Brilliant food, great owners. Go for a raki or ouzo and then some very well done Greek food. Moussaka, lamb leg, greek salad, meatballs, all well tried and delivered on their yummy promise.
Food was OK but not more. We shared a mix meat plate for 3, and there was simply not enough food. There were 2 small cubes of feta cheese and when I asked how we're supposed to share those being 3 people the reply was "for the 2 person plate there is only 1 (cube of feta cheese) ". Also, there were some boiled hotdogs (why?) which were plain bad, and cold in the middle. Not a good experience and will not come back.
Spyros is very friendly and the food superb! Lamb gyros was some of the tastiest, most tender lamb I've had! Highly recommend this for a change of pace from the Thai cuisine.
