Wat Tham Chiang Dao

I was really surprised by the clear water and such beautiful fish. You can truly enjoy the beauty of Thailand’s nature.

Regarding the cave, I’m not a big fan of caves, so I just walked around there. It was interesting, but it didn’t evoke any special feelings in me.

Many long stories to listen about this cave. You need to pay extra 200 THB for local lamp holder to access more complex stages but it's worthy.

This cave temple is rare in Thailand and is a must-see if you go to Chiang Dao.
The pond at the entrance is beautifully decorated, and the cave is quite large in size, which is worth seeing. There are various Buddha statues in every corner of the cave.
Some sections are closed and you must be accompanied by a local who lights a lantern (200 baht) to enter.

Highlight of our visit to the area. The cave really is something else, an amazing experience.

It is a quiet and clean temple.
The scenery is good.
The staff and monks working there are friendly.
There are good sayings posted on the way up to the temple.

Caves in 2 parts.
A non-electrified with guide that provides light through a kerosene lamp and shows the way. It is a real labyrinth of conduits and successive rooms. A few passages on 4 legs!
The other, furnished, which leads to the reclining Buddha.
All in a nice Buddhist complex.
Landscapes around also very beautiful.

If I could give it no stars I would, it's all about money. They just push you to pay for the guide, it's better to just walk the free section at your own pace.

A sneaky photographer will come and take photos of you, instead of letting you choose they will print them out and wait for you at the entrance. Then want you to buy them all even though the quality of the cameraman is so so bad.

I would recommend look walk around the free section only.

Such a cool place, the cave is HUGE! Definitely get the guide, it's a really easy way to support the locals as the entry fee is so affordable anyway and you'd want to see the extra bits of the cave and you cant with no guide.
Awesome to see the millions of bats too!

The cave is quite interesting to walk through, particularly if you are new to caves. Ticket costs 40baht to enter and from there you can walk along the lit path without a guide or hire a guide to explore the unlit part. The guides in front did not tell us this, and we assumed we had to hire a guide and lantern (200 baht each) to enter. The dark cave is fine, but certainly not worth 400 baht for a 15 minute walk, especially given that some of the rock formations looked chipped or broken.

ถ้ำไม่ใหญ่มาก เดินแป๊ปเดียวอ้อมหมดละ ด้านในมีค้างคาว และถ้าหากจะเดินในถ้ำต้องเช่าตะเกียง 200 บาท และต้องมีคนนำทางเท่านั้น แต่จะให้คนนำทางเท่าไหร่แล้วแต่จะให้เลย. ตอนเราเดินเข้าไปจะมีผู้หญิงถือกล้องเดินตามเรามาเพื่อที่จะถ่ายรูปด้านใน หากไม่อยากได้รูปก็ให้ปฏิเสธไปได้เลย.

Really cool cave to explore. Youll need a guide if you want to explore more than a single path inside. The guide is 200baht and they suggest a 200baht tip to the guide directly as well. The guide didn't speak much English, but we were able to understand everything just fine through hand motions/pantomiming. Worth checking out and making the detour on your way to Pai from Chiang Mai!

ถ้ำหลวงเชียงดาวเป็นโบราณสถานที่ผู้คนมากมายเลื่อมใสศรัทธา ซึ่งอาจเป็นเพราะได้รู้เรื่องราวอัศจรรย์แต่ในหน หลังที่เล่าสืบ ต่อกันมา นั่นก็คือเจ้าหลวงคำแดง เป็นบุตรชายของเจ้าผู้ครองเมืองพะเยา ได้ทิ้งบ้านเมืองเพื่อออกตามหาหญิงสาวที่แปลงร่าง เป็นกวางทอง เพราะหลงรูปโฉมที่สวยงาม ซึ่งหายลับเข้าไปในถ้ำหลวงเชียงดาว เจ้าหลวงคำแดงจึงได้ตามเข้าไปในถ้ำเช่นเดียวกัน โดยไม่ได้กลับออกมาอีกเลย หากแต่ไม่จุติใหม่เป็นเทวดาผู้มีฤทธิ์อยู่ในภายถ้ำ และปกปักรักษาถ้ำหลวงเชียงดาว ต่อมาชาวบ้านได้ สร้างศาลถวายท่านและตั้งชื่อว่า“ศาลพ่อหลวงคำแดง”ตามตำนานกล่าวไว้ว่า ในคืนที่มีนิมิตหมายอันดี อีกทั้งบนท้องฟ้าก็ ไร้เมฆ หมอก จะปรากฏลูกกลมๆ มีแสงสว่างคล้ายพระธาตุลอยออกมาจากหลังดอยเชียงดาวแล้ว เคลื่อนไปทางทิศตะวันออก เป็นเวลา 5 นาที ก็จะได้ยินเสียงดังคล้ายเสียงของปืนใหญ่พร้อมกับแสงสว่างนั้นก็หายไปด้วย ชาวบ้านมักจะเชื่อกันว่า เป็นวิญญาณของ เจ้าหลวงคำแดง ไปเยี่ยมบ้านเกิดเมืองนอนที่เมืองพะเยา

From Chiang Mai is long trip just for the cave. I mean, isnt sooo great. Yeah, is nice, beatiful cave. But not spectacular, so you better make a route to see some spots like Sticky Waterfalls or something.
Entrance was 40 plus 200 guide, quite a lot compared with other entrance fees, would be better if they could more English.

เมื่อไปถึงบนเขาเข้าไปกราบพระยิ่งทำให้อยากที่จะอยู่ปฏิบัติธรรมค่ะ สงบเงียบ ถ้ามีโอกาสไปกันนะคะ ครั้งหนึ่งในชีวิต ไปกราบหลวงปู่สิมกันค่ะ

Highly recommended to visit however put insect repellent and wear long pants and hat for your safety. It's fun to go inside hole surely you will enjoy.
