Wat Chedi Luang

One of the oldest temple in the middle of chiang mai town, tourist need to buy entrance ticket to enter. The temple is similar to ang kor wat temple, not like usual thailand temple in northen. Definitely a temple you cannot be missed

The building was built in the 14th century, but now its head is half down due to an earthquake in the 16th century. The Emerald Buddha, which is more than 500 years old, is currently in the Temple of the Emerald Buddha in Bangkok.

Very nice temple, unfortunately you can't go up, but still very impressive.
The entrance fee is also very low at 50 baht and is definitely worth it.

It is clean and well maintained. It has benches to sit on and also bathrooms, like in many other temples.
Admission costs 50THB.

But what I liked the most and why I came back is that there is an area where you can talk to the monks and ask them questions about Thai culture, Buddhism, or anything you can think of. I found it very interesting and curious and I learned a lot.
I don't know if there will be it in other temples in Bangkok, but it would be great.

วัดสวยงามมากๆ จุดหลักคือตัวพระเจดีย์เก่าที่ด้านบน ยอดเจดีย์ยุบตัวลงมา และมีการ บูรณะเป็นบางส่วน ใหญ่อลังการสุดๆ

We went there in August and there weren't many people. The most beautiful temple in the city.

It was surprising that such a historical site exists in the middle of downtown Chiang Mai, and I was once again impressed by its grandeur.

It is a must-visit attraction during your trip to Chiang Mai.

I loves seeing Wat Chedi while walking around the old city. It took a moment to figure out how to get inside, but it was worth it!

It turned out that to get there, you need to get into the territory of the complex, the entrance is paid.

Not a big area in the center of the old town with a chedi from the 15th century. Very beautiful and atmospheric place. Entrance 50 baht.

Wat Chedi Luang is the famous temple in town of Chiangmai, is a Buddhist temple in the historic centre of Chiangmai. On the temple grounds is the city pillar (Lak Mueang) of Chiang Mai, named Sao Inthakin. It was moved to this location in 1800 by King Chao Kawila, that was originally located in Wat Sadeu Muang. He also planted three dipterocarp tree there, which are supposed to assist the city pillar to protect the town. A festival in honor of the city pillar is held every year in May and lasts 6–8 days for merit with the flowers.

In a wihan near the entrance to the temple is the Buddha statue named Phra Chao Attarot (Eighteen-cubit Buddha), which was cast in the late 14th century. On the other side of the chedi is another pavilion housing a reclining Buddha statue.

Wat Chedi Luang hosts monk chats every day and tourists are invited to speak with monks and ask them anything about Buddhism or Thailand.

One of the top Temples to visit in Chiang Mai. Very impressive collection of buildings within the grounds together with the 15th Century Chedi. One building also houses a number of Golden Buddhas including a reclining Buddha. Plenty to see here, the Grand Hall is unfortunately closed due to restoration work.

We were so lucky to see this special event of this magnificent chedi restored in its illusional full shape under laserlights.

เป็นวัดที่เป็นเอกลักษณ์มากๆ ถ้ามาเชียงใหม่แล้วไม่แวะถ่ายรูปกับเจดีย์เหมือนมาไม่ถึงเชียงใหม่ มีหลายจุดให้แวะชม และมีส่วนที่ผู้หญิงห้ามเข้าด้วยครับ

Parts of the temple was under construction when I came. Looks like any other temple tbh except it has one giant ruins/temple. Free to enter.
