Jack's Bar

Looking for a restaurant bar with a view of the Chao Phraya River, here it is simple and friendly opposite the luxurious The Peninsula hotel.

I make it a pilgrimage to eat at Jack’s Bar every time I’m in Bangkok. It’s a low key, busy place right on the Chao Phraya river down an alleyway. Jack tends to the till, his wife (I presume) watches the dining area and the customer service (like a hawk I may add). May have to wait for a table but we’ll worth it.

Owners friendly, good food, nice location, free life. What ask more? ….
this happened several years ago, when the Thais frequented the club, when there were ramshackle tables, plastic chairs and, above all, when the owners had not yet made any money.
Unfortunately this is no longer the case. It was nice. Today the owners run for tourists only. Thais are almost not welcome. You no longer breathe the air you used to be. In the final, I will never return to this place.

A bar full of Caucasians. I thought this would mean cheaper beer and maybe so-so food, but the food I had was pretty good. I had my first Thai sukiyaki here.

Washroom is cleaner than my expectation.

River view would be good if the water is clean. Now it’s muddy and has a lot of things floating on the surface. Also a bit smelly so it might not be a good idea to sit right beside it if you’re eating. Seats quite limited, better reserved beforehand.

I think this is my favourite place in Bangkok. Have local vibes with excellent Thai food, plus a fantastic view of the river and good prices.

Awesome view, just next to the river. Owners can get you a water taxi to travel around, decent food

Food are so tasty and yummy! It's not a big restaurant but enough space for enjoy your food, drink and Chaopraya River view

It's a very friendly place that you can have a drink or food and sit down for a few hours on the the riverside where one could enjoy the night view of the Chao Phraya River. The food and drinks are fairly priced and fairly good quality. I have no complaint at all for a casual dining and chill at Jack's Bar.

Popular drinking hole near the river. Get nice views of the boats. Tall cold beers. Foreigner friendly dishes although portions a little small.

Gets very busy so can be difficult to get a seat. Was an enjoyable evening though. No complaints.

The location is fantastic.
It's quite rustic, which for me, adds to the appeal.
Prices are pretty good. Service was good, but slightly 'cool', probably because I'm a foreigner who speaks no Thai. Please do not let that sway your decision.
If you love watching the world go by whilst sipping a beer, this is most definitely your place.

Very quirky little river side bar, great to meet people from all over the world and to watch the sunset. Its cheap and cheerful, a little gem in Bangkok

Rustic setting, cruisy food and drinks right on the river. The prices are a bit above average, and the food is a bit variable (sometimes superb, sometimes less than extraordinary), but the venue is a true dive bar with million dollar views. It is a great place. Lots of expat Aussies here, and many other foreigners too.
We really enjoy this place because it's such a contradiction.

Love this bar. Cooling breeze from the river on a warm Bangkok day, ice cold beer for me and cold Prosecco for my companions, and the best fried chicken wings I’ve had yet in Thailand. Service very friendly and attentive. Highly recommended

Might have been a nice restaurant/bar in the past. The food is still good, but the service level is a disaster. Nothing works, you will not get the food or drinks you order and a lot will be missing. Our worst experience in Thailand during our 3 weeks stay.

ราคาถือว่าแพงไปกับบรรยากาศที่นี้ สภาพแวดล้อมและส้วมใกล้เต็มและรสชาดิอาหารรวมถึงการบริการของพนักงานเสริฟที่ไม่เน้นservice คนไทย

Com and enjoy is bar. Jack's bar is local bar serve local wishy and local beer and enjoy local food. This place is near rive, you can sit on ferry landing for closest rive (hahaha) and make sure you order grill pork with spicy sauce, I recommend this menu. This place has less parking car but you can walk from BTS SAPARN TAKSIN is not far from here.

Been living in Bangkok for 2 years first time to this place and in a word wouldn't go back. Why? Just the staff, unfriendly, lazy and fighting between themselves. Shame really nice position but then again there's 50 other places to go where the staff treat you well and the views the same. Yes you have your regular expats I suppose. I'll give you just a small EG. I'll have the spring rolls lol in Thai by the way, no spring rolls grabs the menu and walks off lol no chance to reorder or ask for the main plate and that was just one case. Not sure who is jack but sorry for you mate. Oh BTW I am a chef and owned a resto for 10 yrs so I can say these things with an open mind. Bad days yes bad staff lool

Lovely place to get some good food and something to drink while you sit down and look at the busy river traffic.

What. A. Spot. Perfect for sundowners but get down early to avoid disappointment. Good food and ice cold beer at very reasonable prices.
