Ban Nam Chiao community is an ecotourism community, which represents the coastal fishermen’s way of life. The village is located in Tambon Nam Chiao, Amphoe Laem Ngop, Trat province. It is a bypass to the Ko Chang Ferry Pier. The villagers were originally Thai Buddhists. Later on, the mixture between two ethnicities was created since many of the Chinese merchants cruised in with goods to sell at the Ban Nam Chiao Pier, and finally settled in the area. In the reign of King Rama III, the Khmer Muslims (also known as Khaek Cham or Champa) immigrated from the war in their homeland to settle along the canal in Ban Nam Chiao. More of them kept coming in, so the two religions were allowed to get married, and they became like siblings and have lived together in peace. The name “Nam Chiao” is in reference to the location of the village. It is situated by the ocean and featured with the abundance of mangrove forests, and has a large canal flowing through. This canal is sourced from Khao Wang Pla, which is located between Amphoe Laem Ngop and Amphoe Mueang Trat. In the flooding season, the canal will turn into a raging torrent, which is how it gets its name, Khlong Nam Chiao. This canal cuts through the village towards the south of the Gulf of Thailand in Ban Pak Khlong, Tambon Nong Sano, Amphoe Mueang Trat. The local fishermen use this canal for local fishery and as a seaway for fishery in the ocean. The angle is more harsh than I imagined. The handrails are low in some parts and can be quite scary. I think it's quite a sightseeing spot in Trat, which doesn't have much to see on the island.

เป็นชุมชนเล็กๆที่อยู่ระหว่างอำเภอเมืองและอำเภอแหลมงอบ มีจุดไฮไลท์คือสะพานวัดใจที่สูงจากพื้นน้ำน่าจะเกินสิบเมตร และบริเวณท่าเรือจะมีชาวบ้านนำของมาขายราคาย่อมเยาสามารถอุหนุนกันได้ นอกจากนี้ยังสามารถจ้างเรือหางยาวลำละ 500 บาท นั่งได้ลำละไม่เกิน 8 คน เพื่อนั่งออกไปชมบริเวณป่าชายเลน อุโมงค์ต้นโกงกาง จนไปถึงบริเวณปากอ่าวที่มองเห็นเกาะช้างได้อย่างชัดเจน ถือว่าคุ้มค่าเป็นอย่างมากเพราะป่าชายเลนของที่นี่อุดมสมบูรณ์อย่างมาก มีเหยี่ยวอศัยอยู่เต็มสองข้างทาง รวมระยะเวลาไปกลับประมาณ 1 - 1.30 ชั่วโมง ครับ

จุดเด่นของชุมชนบ้านน้ำเชี่ยวจุดแรกก็คือ สะพานวัดใจซึ่งเป็นสะพานที่สูงราว 7 เมตรครึ่ง มองจากกลางสะพานเราจะได้เห็นชุมชนในมุมมองรอบด้านแบบ 360 องศา สวยงามมากเลยแหละ และถึงแม้สะพานนี้จะถูกเรียกว่าสะพานวัดใจ แต่ก็ไม่เป็นอันตรายแต่อย่างใด ไม่ต้องปีนป่าย แค่ก้าวตามขั้นบันไดขึ้นไปเท่านั้นเอง

การต้อนรับดีนะคะ แต่สินค้ามีน้อยไปนิด อาจจะเพราะนักท่องเที่ยวน้อย ขาดการประชาสัมพันธ์ ขับรถผ่านแล้วเห็นป้ายถึงได้แวะเข้าไปดูค่ะ

โดยรวมแล้วจะให้ 4ดาว แต่ที่ให้ 5 เพราะความมีน้ำใจช่วยเหลือคะ เนื่องจากเราพาแม่ไปเที้ยวแล้วเกิดเป็นลม ทางชาวบ้านได้ช่วยดูและเรียกกู้ภัยนำส่ง ร. พ ตราด #ขอบคุณมากๆคะ#ถ้ามีโอกาศจะกลับไปอีกครั้งคะ

แหล่งท่องเที่ยวชุมชน ควรมีรัฐสนับสนุน เป็นชุมชนอิสลามส่วนใหญ่ มีของฝากและของกินแบบชาวบ้าน แต่บรรยากาศไม่ค่อยคึกคัก ราคาของฝากก็ทั่วๆไป ทางเข้าแคบแต่เข้ามาแล้วมีที่จอดรถพอสมควร มีคุณป้ามาขายไอศรีมกะทิ อร่อยมาก อาหารของชุมชนก็รสชาติใช้ได้ มีล่องเรือชมบรรยากาศออกสู่ทะเล

จุดแวะไปเดินเที่ยวก่อนไปขึ้นเรือที่แหลมศอก. บรรยากาศดี เป็นหมู่บ้านริมน้ำเก่าแก่ เป็นวิถีชาวบ้านแบบพหุวัฒนธรรมอยู่ร่วมกันอย่างสงบสุขหลากหลายทั้งพุทธ, อิสลาม, จีน มีมัสยิดเก่าแก่เป็นร้อยปีกับศาลเจ้าจีนและวัดอยู่บริเวณใกล้เคียงกัน แต่ไฮไลท์คือสะพานวัดใจ ที่สะท้อนเงาพื้นน้ำ. และมีสะพานเดินชมป่าโกงกางเก่าแก่และหอดูนกที่สร้างไว้อย่างดี น่าเสียดายขาดการประชาสัมพันธ์ที่ดีเลยทำให้มีคนให้ความสนใจน้อยไป เพราะตอนที่มาขนาดเป็นวันเสาร์ยังแทบไม่มีคนมาเลย.

Definitely worth a visit. Walk over the bridge then through a friendly community. Walk through the mangrove forest to a wonderful spot to see birds at the right time of day. Homestay available but need to book in advance.

Went to this bridge back in January of 2020. It was very beautiful and the people were very nice. I hope that one day can return.
