Yao Yai Beach Resort

We were picked up from the hotel at the pier, which actually worked well. When you arrive, the first shock: you have the feeling that you are entering the hotel through the delivery entrance. A dirty corridor lined with rubbish leads towards the hotel. There are also predominantly rubbish, untidy and dirty places throughout the complex. The highlight of this was the rat that jumped over our balcony on the first floor and disappeared into the drainpipe.

In general, the hotel gives the impression that it is run unprofessionally by a group of young people.

Breakfast was not included in our high hotel price. Although we were really happy to do without it. There is no buffet here to eat from. You can choose from 3 fixed breakfast options. One with rice, one with egg and one with muesli or similar! We then preferred to go to the neighboring hotel and get a reasonable buffet with everything there for a few baht more.

For what we paid for the hotel, we would normally expect a lot more.

Positive: The beach is nice to look at and wasn't overcrowded when we were there. There are a few loungers on the beach and the pool is ok. But nothing more.

We were driven back to the pier at an overpriced price - perhaps to recoup the first free ride.

All in all, we would definitely not book this hotel again and cannot recommend it to anyone.

Edit: I don't know what the owner's answer is supposed to refer to. Since the first trip from the pier was "free", but the return trip was offered at an overpriced price (and of course we paid for it too), this comment actually makes no sense. But this also only underlines the poor management of this facility. We probably don't want to go into the real problems here.

I recommend this hotel 100%. The hotel overlooks the beach which is magnificent. There is also a very nice swimming pool. The accommodations are perfect. The complex is very quiet which is ideal for a trip as a couple or family. The island is well preserved from mass tourism which makes it very peaceful.

Just spent the most wonderful 3 nights here & that was after extending our initial 2 night stay for an extra night only hours after arriving. The location is beautiful with amazing sunsets, food was some of the best Thai food my wife & I have found, & we live on Phuket.
The staff are 2nd to none with nothing being a problem. A special shout out to Mr Okay who went above & beyond in helping with a locally made birthday cake for my wife's birthday. This also included a private table for dinner surrounded & covered in flowers. My wife was blown away as I was with the effort of all staff including presenting said cake with all singing Happy Birthday.
As has been mentioned breakfast is basic but if not on the menu just ask as my wife did for fried eggs instead of the menu omelette. Staff also opened the kitchen earlier for breakfast on our last morning to enable us to catch our 8am ferry.
Our room upstairs was amazing with our own plunge pool & huge balcony.
This will become our new favourite getaway from Phuket & look forward to returning very soon.
Side note, the people of Koh Yao Yai are some of the nicest we have met in the land of smiles, can't wait to get back

We had the grand sea deluxe room, the view was amazing! Believe me, the hotels own pictures don't do justice for this place.

Bed was soft and very comfy, I was happy because very firm beds give me back pain. Great AC, everything worked fine.

Breakfast was okayish, perhaps not worth the money imo. Food and drinks are a tad overpriced, you can get much cheaper and better food from the local restaurants nearby.

Overall a very good hotel to stay in if you want to be right at the beach. The sunsets are amazing!

A magnificent place to stay on Koh Yao Yai. Very comfortable, great service, amazing and clean beach, nice breakfast, full restaruant menu available, pool for swimming, deck chairs, incredible value. On-site massage offered (with the sound of the sea nearby). A short walk from a street lined with various restaurants, shops and services. Only good things to say!

Lovely 3 star beachfront hotel, close to restaurants, shops and amenities. Friendly staff. Do book your own taxi from the hotel back to the pier, the hotel charges a crazy 500 thb fee, but it only cost 160thb pp on the way to the hotel.

Amazing location. Probably one of my favorite beaches on the island. The view on my balcony was amazing with the pool below and blue waters!
However, I wasn’t aware that my room shared the jacuzzi with the room next door and was surprised that there wasn’t hot water.
Food was decent and the staff were kind but only 1 of them spoke decent English.

Stayed at the beachfront room, very nice view, modern aircon, good bed, comfortable chairs on the terrace, super sunset spot, best beach on the island. Breakfast is simple but more is not needed. Staff friendly and beer not overpriced. Motorbike rental nearby. Right next to the famous santhiya resort, but the yao yai beach resort is a much better option if you dont need (or cant afford) a 5 star hotel

Traumhafter strand, fantastische hotelanlage, super essen, freundliches personal und luxuriös ausgestattete hütten - preis leistung stimmt - sehr zu empfehlen!

Resort was fine and friendly staff! Bungelows are right on the beach but breakfast was not included and quite expensive. Nice beach right in front of the resort to go have a swim, but water is not clear enough for snorkeling. We were here in low season and there was construction going on which really messed up the serenity of the place. Also, the resort next door played loud music till 0130, which is a major downside for the fussy sleeper.

Truely a beach resort, with their; brand new beach side restaurant and their brand new, 10 meters from the beach bungalows, they have managed to upscale many aspects of it. It's a Quiet, Spacious, Secluded place, ideal for you and your family, food is of very good quality.

Perfect location, friendly staff, nice rooms, but we were given the bungalow furthest from the hotel and it had no WiFi and no beach view. Still as expensive though!

Unreal, beautiful place cannot fault it, although a late night bar/pub with music would be good. Definitely be back.

Great place to start the vacation. Very calm and relaxing. Good beach, but no snorkeling. Rooms are all covered in wood, in a fantastic way.
Food is good at the resort, can also eat on the beach. A few local restaurants available close by.

Hotel mit Bungalows direkt am Strand, gutes Preis Leistung -Verhältnis. Personal spricht wenig Englisch. Toller Sandstrand

Beautiful beach. Not super touristy. No one selling you stuff on the beach. Quiet. And great Thai food
