Royal Yao Yai Island Beach Resort

It was a fantastic resort. We came here after we stayed in Phuket and we wanted some relaxation. The resort can provide everything. We got picked up from the ferry (400 BAHT for 2 persons). And we were checked in with a welcome drink. The room was clean, and everything you need is provided (beach bag - I used it al lot, beach towels, slippers etc). The breakfast was delicious and royal. There are enough beach beds or beds near the pool. You can get a drink all day long at the bar. The staff is friendly and helpful and everything is well taken care of!

I would recommend to rent a scooter around the corner, to see the island in one afternoon. It’s worth it and the locals are super friendly.

The staff couldn't be more helpful at this hotel, we had the loveliest stay and even ended up extending for an extra night. The hotel is right on the beach front and offers free kayaks. There is also a pool with slides too. The rooms are super clean and they provide beach towels and bags for guests to use. It is in a great location with plenty of shops and restaurants in walking distance. Seemed very family friendly too.

Stunning location, free kayaking is a plus, great hotel but the gym was the worst I have ever seen, let alone for a 5 star resort. So peaceful.and beer is only 70 baht everywhere on island.

Great hotel with a beautiful view of the sea, warm pool. The rooms are very clean, spacious. Everything is top notch. This is the best hotel on the island. Breakfast included.

We felt lucky to find this hotel, we checked few places and this one is probably the best on the island.
The rooms are modern and very clean and comfortable, amazing big swimming pool on the beach, wonderful breakfast, beautiful beach, perfect location and friendly staff.
Just one step out of the hotel you will find small street with everything you need, good restaurants, supermarkets, massage shops, pharmacy and more.

Traumhafte Lage, aber schlechtes Management

Die Strandlage ist traumhaft und die Zimmer geräumig und sauber. Während die Reinigung gut funktioniert, ist hier vor allem das Management ein Problem, das fast jeden Nachmittag Tagesgäste ins Hotel holt. Teilweise halten drei oder mehr Ausflugsboote mit betrunkenen Touristengruppen am frühen Nachmittag im Hotel, essen hier, lassen ihren Müll überall im Gelände liegen und bleiben zwei bis drei Stunden. Am Abend kam es auch vor, dass eine Partygruppe das Hotelrestaurant gemietet hatte und dann lauthals Karaoke durch die Anlage gesungen hat. Alles sehr schade, da die Voraussetzungen für ein gutes Hotel hier vorliegen, aber hier scheint man eher am Service zu sparen und das schnelle Geld der Tagesgäste über den Komfort der Übernachtungsgäste zu stellen. Gespart wird auch am Restaurant, das Frühstück ist miserabel und auch sonst interessiert sich niemand dafür, wenn man etwas bestellen möchte oder die Tische abzuräumen.

Ich fand hier alles super bis auf den Strand und das angeblich vorhandene Fitnessstudio. Für den Preis ein wirklich tolles Hotel. Alle Mitarbeiter waren freundlich und bemüht. Die Zimmer sind sehr schön eingerichtet.

Den Stern Abzug gibt es für die echt schon unverschämte Angabe ein Fitnessstudio mit im Hotel zu haben. Ich denke das Bild sagt alles.

Great location with gorgeous sunsets! Nice rooms, had no problems at all. Breakfast was nice too. Free kayaks. Area is very peaceful. Some restaurants and few resorts near by, but the beach is not crowded. Really enjoyed our stay. The only feedback to the management if they could have more sun beds, especially at peak season. You basically need to wake up early if you want to have a sun bed for you.

Nice hotel with the best view of the island. You can watch amazing sunsets every day. The room was clean and spacious. We stayed here for a month and encountered no issues. The breakfast can be better, other than that all was fine.

Das Zimmer war sehr schön, direkt am Pool und riesig. Preis Leistung stimmt auf jeden Fall. Das Frühstück war leider nicht so toll wie wir es bei 5 Sternen erwartet hätten. Das Personal war sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Der Strand ist sehr schön und es war sehr ruhig. Es gibt einen kostenfreien Shuttle zum Pier.

We stayed during December and it was alright, now in January a lot of one day tour boats stop and use the facilities and restaurant, an absolute shame, they should let the beach for people who want to enjoy the island, for travelers, not for tourists. Why pay a an expensive hotel and let this happen? Absolute shame. This island was one of the last true jewels of Thailand but groups once more ruin it.

Stopped for drinks on the bean bag chairs to watch the sunset.

Great views, cocktails were good but took 25 mins to get them, service is very slow.

Ambiance is great though!

Beautiful hotel location. The sunsets were too die for. I will come back, for sure. The staff was nice and very helpful.
For dinner, we will eat at the local restaurants since they all had great food.

Booked for one night (3.3k) with a further one day extension (2.6k).

Pros:
- Modern hotel, good renovations, interesting furniture.
- Free kayak, good wifi, good breakfast.
- The staff is fairly responsible, but not in everything.

Cons:
- We lived on the first floor and there were families with kids on all sides. You can't get a good night's rest. The hotel management needs to put people with and without children in different buildings. Hotel occupancy was no more than 40-50% at the time of stay.

- Very scarce set of hygiene products in the room. All of the gels were PROVEN! My skin gave a slight allergy, perhaps it was the unusable shower gels that were the cause.

- No privacy in the room on the first floor. The hotel management needs to put a dark film on the windows. You will be seen from the street when you are on the toilet as there is a huge transparent glass between the room and the bathroom through which you can see the street.

- There are very few sun beds. The hotel has two types of sunbeds: soft and hard. The soft sunbeds are on the hard sunbeds and the soft ones can be laid anywhere. The administration gives blankets if the seats on the sunbeds are busy, but it is not convenient. Soft sun loungers are inexpensive and the administration should buy a few dozen, so that everyone was comfortable.

- Good breakfast, but some food should be given warm (scrambled eggs, ham). The mango shake at the bar on the menu had syrup added to it.

- There are no outlets next to the bed in the room.

- There was a man in a wheelchair in the hotel. It was difficult for him as the hotel is not well designed for it.

Zuerst das positive des Hotels: der Standort am Strand ist sehr schön, hier kann man sowohl bei Flut und Ebbe gut schwimmen.
Nun die negativen Eindrücke: 1. Check in: sollte ab 14 Uhr möglich sein, wir warteten 3 Stunden ohne Erklärung. 2. Bettwanzen im Zimmer: nach der 2. Nacht bemerkten wir die typischen Bisse und informierten die Rezeption. Die Reaktion war gleich Null, erst nach Diskussionen wurde uns für die 3.bis 6. Nacht ein Zimmer unterhalb unserer Buchungskategorie mit defekter Dusche angeboten. Wir zogen dann wegen der Dusche nochmals um. 3. Service allgemein wenig motiviert, zb das Abraeumen der fruehstueckstische erfolgte erst auf Anfrage. Fruehstuecksbuffet maximal Durchschnitt.
