The Rock Shop, Tonsai Rock Climbing

Very unfriendly service and patronising staff. Wanted to buy a guidebook and support the local climbing scene but received blunt and unhelpful responses. Better off going to Railay.

Super unfriendly and unhelpful. We were just trying to ask about buying the guide book and it seemed like the hardest thing in the world for them to respond to. Your job isn't that hard guys.and a smile goes a long way.

Way too expensive! Better bring your own gear. Otherwise you'll get poor on this beach. 1800 Baht for one day climbing gear rent!

These guys are very unfriendly. We wanted to ask some details of a route and got a root answer. They were joking about us and it was not a nice way to communicate.
Probably some days ago it was different.
Can't recommend to go there.

Shout out to our guide Hari who helped us lead climb and top rope some great walls around Railay! We had a fantastic time. I feel like Hari would be a great guide for all levels of climbers from beginner to expert as he showed us some of his projects and they seemed epic and yet he was still patient enough to help remind me of the basics of lead belaying and finding my footing on some easy top rope climbs. A must do while in Railay.

Big fan of this place. Ghop was a great help, not only in organising an awesome guide for me (also named Ghop) he also sorted out cheap transport from my hotel.
I did a two day course on learning to lead climb. Ghop took me through all the basics and through many advanced safety skills. Highly recommend this place.

Spent several days with the crew and we are very happy with the service we received.
We felt safe and secure, and we were able to do harder routes than we thought we could do thanks to the instructor.

Will definitely come back again ;)

Climbed twice with yao as my guide hes great fun and a good people person. He gives you lots of great tips. Good price for all the equipment. Would highly recommend it.

We went on a half day climbing tour with Yow, and what a day it was. He is a fantastic person and an awesome guide. We walked to Railay and met up with Ghop at a climbing spot in Railay. Between the two of them we learnt so much. They help build your knowledge, confidence and strength. They push you to new heights. We will be back and will definitely spend much more time with these guys!

Zack was our guide on the 3 day climbing course, we were so grateful to have him. If you have very little climbing experience I highly recommend taking this course with him. He is a super fun guy be around and very knowledgeable. He made us feel safe the entire time and showed us to a few spots in tonsai and railay. The entire crew at the rockshop were welcoming, positive and fun. We will definitely be coming back, hopefully next time to hire Zack as a teacher/guide. We are hooked on rock climbing and that has a lot to do with Zack!

Zack, one of the experts at this shop, gave me the experience of a lifetime this morning. He taught me to knot, belay, climb safely, and most importantly to believe in my own strength. He’s an excellent teacher as well as a fantastic guide—he knows the best spots around Tonsai and Railay! For him, climbing is not just a business but a passion, and he passed it on to me. This is the best climbing shop—they’ll take good care of you and give you a wonderful experience. So glad I found them.

Yao was our guide and was fantastic. All three of the people in our group were total beginners, but he was very patient and taught us well. It was a great experience and I highly recommend it.

I am surprised why is everyone bragging about this place! Guides are extremely unfriendly, trying to rip you off your last Shirt! Avoid! Better go up to the Village and aquire there!

Great team and very knowledgeable of the area. Had some awesome days climbing with them, I especially love Eagle Wall, a hidden corner of Tonsai.
