Really first class resort. Great accommodation in detached bamboo thatched bungalows, silent Aircon and facilities. Everything works and rooms are kept very clean. Great to hear the dawn chorus as the location is in a jungle clearing.
Lovely attentive staff, great breakfast with excellent espresso coffee. Restaurant serves lovely food and drinks all day. Perfect beachfront location.

The hotel is not worth the price. The worst during our 3 week stay. First of all, the smell of the sewage in the house was unbearable and the air conditioning had to be on all the time because otherwise it was impossible to stand the smell. After reporting it at the reception, a nice lady brought us some incense The bed is a sheet with a blanket on it - that was the impression when lying on it. Breakfast was very poor. The waiters are young, very nice people, but they are just learning their profession. No one in the bar knew how to make a drink even though it was listed on the menu. The beach is beautiful and the location of the hotel is also beautiful, but the houses themselves need renovation. I think there should be more going on in the evenings because in other hotels it was bustling with life, you could have a delicious drink and even listen to live music, while in Mayala Beach there were only staff wandering from corner to corner and tourists passing by.

This hotel is located in paradise, the beach and water are like in Maldives. Reachable by 30 min speedboat from Ko Lanta. This is the perfect place to relax as the island is very quiet, are only few hotels with bars, restaurants, massage and travel agency which can arrange tours to the neighborhood islands.

Un-exciting accomodation in one of the most enchanting beaches in the world.

The beds are big and the showers with good pressure.
The rooms are spotlessly clean.
Nothing else is exciting BUT.
. Right in front of Mayalay is the pretties stretch of white, soft, flawless sand in this already flawless beach.

This makes for probably the best option on the island.
Somewhat understaffed, but the fellows who are there are well natured and helpful!

A very nice resort directly on the beach of Koh Ngai. It was my second visit here and I will definitely come again. The staff is very friendly and the rooms are clean. The only small downside is the relatively small selection of different dishes for breakfast which is a little bit monotonous if you stay more than just a few days.

Very poor restaurant. I got fried fish which was burned and very hard. Papaya salad was tasteless.
The staff was lazy. I do not recommend.

The worst hotel we’ve ever stayed in. I mean where should I even start? First of all it was way to overpriced for what you get. The hotel is advertised as a 3-star hotel but it’s not. It’s far from that. The beach lies where the most uncomfortable ones we’ve ever seen. You have no chance to relax in one of them, absolutely horrible! The, beach towels“ we got weren’t towels, they where dirty, disgusting brown rags! (I added a picture so you can see it) The rooms smelled muddy and I had the feeling the outside shower never got cleaned a single time. But the worst for us? The absolute unfriendly and unprofessional Manager. The manager wasn’t interested in us having a good stay at all! We complained about the beach lies and asked if we could have one like some people had it in front of their bungalows, we even offered to pay for it. He was so unfriendly, we never experienced something like that in our live before! He just answered how we think that this is possible, he said if he would start that, everyone would want a beach lie like that. I mean hello? ! If your guests want better beach lies and start complaining you should probably think bout that and change it! You can’t treat your guests like garbage! And the next time you should probably check who you’re talking to. We booked through a travel agency in Germany and we told them about our stay. They where absolutely shocked and kicked the Malaya beach resort out of their program. Dear manager, you lost money now. Guys, stay away from this hotel! Take a different one on this island, there are some which are way better! The only thing that was good was the beach. The beach was beautiful. But unfortunately you couldn’t swim after 3pm because of the low tide.

Really enjoyed my stay here a few weeks ago. Quiet, mellow island. I'm sure it gets busier but I enjoyed the peace and quiet when I was there. Friendly, helpful, and accommodating staff. Had a lot of good chats in the restaurant with Kevin. Mai Pen Rai!

Very disappointing. Old bungalos, cheap furniture, holes in the wall, dirty windows. Room cleaning is very poor, beach cleaning - never seen.i've asked for some soap and got the answer, that i can use shampoo or shower gel instead more like a backpackers hostel but very overpriced. Avoid it if you can, it is not a resort and you will only have troubles here. I really have nothing good to say about it, there are so many nice hotels on Koh Ngai that are far more better or cheaper, we really regret haven chosen this horror "resort"

Mayalay Beach Resort is ideally located on the sandy white southern end of Koh Ngai just footsteps from one of the most picturesque beaches imaginable. Everything about the resort is perfectly fine, and we were happy and content with our short stay. Having said that (like everything on the island) it is just priced through the roof for what it is. I can't speak to the quality of other accommodation on the island as to whether this is comparatively good value for money or not, but you are certainly paying a premium just for being on the island. The room had good air-con, a cold mini-fridge, hot water for the shower, a couple of deck chairs out the front, a mosquito net for the bed (which you will absolutely need). The included breakfast was of a reasonable variety, but for the money, probably should have been more extensive. Surprisingly, snorkel equipment is not free to borrow. Still, if money is no object, I can definitely recommend this place for the view and seclusion alone.
