Chef Chalong Restaurant

In my opinion the best resturant in the area.
I simply forgot to take pictures, we have been there 5 times but it tastes so good that I have forgotten to take pictures.
We've got
crab in yellow curry (ordered several times)
Fried rice with Krappe
Whole fish with wrap of fresh vegetables with two dips
Grilled booze with two dips
Vegetables and chicken in oyster sauce
Tempura shrimp
Yellow curry with booze
And of course sticky rice with mango

The food is so tasty no matter what we order.

And they are good at adjusting the strength of spicy ness and also ask after the food is served if it is ok in strength.

I don't know if she owns the place or if she is some kind of head waiter, but she is the one who makes the place get 5 stars for voting. She is good at English and contributes to the cozy atmosphere. And you feel so welcome from the first minute you arrive

The decor is not white tablecloths and refined. But cozy

It is also value for money.
Be aware that a rice dish like fried rice with Krappe. I ordered a small portion and got what I would call a large one. So unless you're really hungry, a small portion is plenty for one person

Family-run restaurant with wonderful honest Thai food. Large portions, good service and a pleasant lively atmosphere. We have been there a few times and will continue to do so.

Thank you for such an amazing Thai experience.food was amazing and service was excellent. The lady boss came to check in on us to see if we are alright and if food was suitable. She asked where we stayed and as we had travel 30 mins to her place in the rain, she offered us a plate of sweet mango! Thanked us profusely for coming all the way during low peak season! We ordered Thai fried rice with crispy pork which was amazingly fragrant. Next we ordered the Thai Tom yum with squid. The amount of squid was so plentiful. Taste was authentic and you can select the level of spiciness. Highly recommended.

Oh note that the place is rather off the main road so it’s pretty hard to find. But worth the effort!

Fresh seafood, we ordered grilled prawns and steamed fish, excellently done. Also had very delicious homemade Thai fishcakes - a bit spicy but so good!

Really friendly service and delicious food. Huge selection on the menu. We loved the flavours of the e-san dishes, especially the spicy chicken salad. Delicious mango shake too. So good we ate everything before remembering to take photos!

Had a great meal here with great staff, really nice environment and great prices. A nice spot in koh lanta if you don't what the sub par tourist food. Authentic Thai and great esan food!

If you want to taste real Thai foods, this is the place. I’m Thai and I can confirm their foods are good. I ate here many times during my stay on Koh Lanta.

This place is great. The family running it are so friendly. We ate there at least six times in the course of a week on the island as it was much better than the resort we were staying in. Would highly recommend this to anyone visiting the area!

The only place you need to visit for dinner in Koh Lanta! The food here is sublime. We visited 4 times during our 5 day stay in Koh Lanta. Every time it was the same standard and each dish is delicious. Very warm and welcoming family atmosphere. Some highlights were the fried fish with curry paste, papaya salad, grilled pork neck, panang curry and Tom yum soup. Wish we could bring this restaurant home with us!

Good clean tasting food but overpriced and horrifically understaffed. Maybe at some point this place was visited by locals and allowed time for the chef to say hi to clientele but that was not the case tonight. If you’re willing to deal with a wait on a busy night, the food is tasty.

We were happy with our stir fried yellow noodles and steamed fish with lemon which were definitely made with quality ingredients. Just wish they had more than one tray of condiments for the over 10 tables of customers they have (which we were not aware of until we were ready to pay). 4/5 for the food, 2/5 for the service and prices.

This is the best Thai E saan restaurant we‘ve tried during our month stay in Thailand.
All the dishes are exceptional delicious and are served very fast!

Outstanding food! Service was great, very friendly and the food was out of this world! On top of that they help feed dogs and cats with no home! You must try this place…you won’t regret it!

Very good place for lunch and dinner. The girl which serviced us was very friendly and helpful. It was also the only place in Thailand were I was asked if I want food with chillies or not! Absolutely loved it.

After a lot of Southern Thai food, I was keen to find an Northern Thai restaurant (Isaan cuisine). Some lovely Thai ladies recommended this place and said it was legit. They even pointed out which dishes were particularly good and special at the restaurant. And the service was super friendly. They were excited that I was super excited about the Isaan dishes I ordered as a local Thai would. I think I will go back and try some other dishes.

Update: So the food was so good I came back with a friend to try more dishes. If you are a person with an international palate, I recommend having the papaya salad with fermented crab and fish as would a Thai person would, great umani.
