Blu Monkey Phi Phi Island

A bit run down but can’t complain too much considering the price. Worst part however is the lack of soundproofing… Crazy kids screaming late at night (where are your parents?) in the corridor/their own rooms and I can hear them loud and clear.

The hotel is very well located. Close to all amenities (7 eleven, pharmacy, laundromat, beach, restaurants) friendly welcome.

Blu Monkey is a good budget hotel to stay in Phi Phi. The location is a bit further in but still close to restaurants and cafes. A 7-11 very close also. The rooms are clean and well presented. The bed and pillows are super comfortable. There is free, cold, safe drinking water on every level to fill up water bottles. The service was great and rooms cleaned daily. Only downside was the bathroom. Paint peeling off the wall and old bathmats that are fraying. (The sand in the pictures are from us not the hotel). However it’s still functional and didn’t cause an issue. There is a construction site right next to it but could not hear anything from our room. Would stay here again!

Really nice accomodatiom to stay. The bed is so comfy and everything is super clean. I came back after 5 days and the receptionist recognized me and I got a very warm welcome back. After checking out I did the viewpoints and I could use the shower from my room where I allready had checked out. Thank you for a great time!

If you want to be close enough to everywhere on Phi Phi, but far away from the noise of the hustle and bustle on the main streets, Blu Monkey is the place for you.

Great service and staff, clean environment and everything was in good working order.

Do bring your own hand wash soap for when you use the loo as that is not provided.

Overall it was a great experience and I would stay with them again.

A great place to stay in Phi Phi. It’s close to the downtown area but far from all the party noises. It’s about 10 minutes walk from the pier. But we wouldn’t notice the distance since we are walking through the vibrant and busy market.

The receptionist is exceptionally friendly and helpful. We asked for a quiet room when booking. On our first night, she informed me that we might hear a few noises since there is a big group of guests, and we barely hear their voices. But we really appreciate her consideration. And she recommends a few areas for us to visit. If you rent a beach towel, you can also get it for the next day for free. How convenient!

They use the reusable water bottle which is our liking. There is no lift which is already mentioned in its description.

Please also support the grocery store next to the hotel. They are kind and friendly too. But please DON’T TRY vitamin C drink (anywhere in Thailand). We got sick the next day.

I loved everything about this hotel, location, price, daily cleaning. I would be back there when back to Phi Phi

Decent budget hotel in Phi Phi. Large room with comfy bed, hot shower and A/C. Few mins walk to beach and main street for food&drinks. No noisy from beach bars at night.

Very dirty and bad smell in rooms, mould and bad smell in bathroom, on the window at 1m you have a wall, you can’t see anything, it’s like you don’t have a window in the room. They can’t change our room, really bad experience.

Great hotel, friendly staff. We stayed for 1 night longer than we planned. Only bad thing are the very hard beds, if you are a bad sleeper i don’t recommend staying here. Everything else was great.

This place came recommended to me by a friend and I booked it because the price was great. I'm not sure why other reviews mention the location as a negative point - it's great to be tucked away on a side street away from all the loud drunks (ergh), and the island is so small you can walk everywhere. Others also mentioned the construction site nearby but I didn't hear a thing.

The bed was comfy, noise-proofing was good and WiFi was fast. The only issues/points for improvement were:

- The reception desk only seemed to be manned sporadically which was a bit of a worry given that the hotel is fully open to the street. There was only a Thai mobile number to call for assistance which wouldn't work with my data only SIM. A Ring doorbell or similar would be handy here.
- Reading lamps had USB connectors but there was nothing to plug them into (I asked at the front desk the next morning and was given an adapter).
- The bathroom did not appear to have been fully renovated yet - surfaces were peeling off. It was still clean, but it might put some people off.
- The AC didn't work initially because the filters were filthy. I cleaned them myself because there was nobody at reception to report it to. It worked perfectly after that but cleaning all that dirt off wasn't pleasant!

There's no breakfast (although there's unlimited coffee, tea, milo and drinking water) but a lady next door sells pancakes and sandwiches, and there's also a laundry conveniently located next door (or a cheaper self-service one about a 10 min walk away).

It was still great value though and I'd stay again. I'd recommend requesting a room on the 2nd or 3rd floor as the ground floor could possibly be noisy.

The building has problems with acoustic and gets very noisy during the night. First two nights we couldn't sleep at all. Spending the whole night awake because of noises and nobody at the hotel caring about it's an absurd.
The staff are very gentle and they do all they can but during the night it's a nightmare.

Poor staff, they work in a kind-a-slave condition. Don't receive days off in months, there are not recognized by their work, don't receive a decent salary.

If you want to sleep or don't want to this situation keep going on with the staff, stay somewhere else.

Upon check in they informed us that due to some issues the hotel did not have "sanitized" water fur us to be able to shower but that everything would be solved in less than 24h. The provided 2 bottles of water for us to shower which of course they were not enough and all the water machines in our floor were empty all the time so we had to go up and down the stairs everytime. The next day they told us that it would take a little longer for theissue to be solved (it never got solved actually) so we had to shower again with water bottles.

To add, some of the room fixtures where falling apart and last but not least one of the mornings we slept there some builders started to make noise at 7am in the morning. In which hotel they allow to start making noise at 7am?

To top it of, upon check out we informed of all the bad experiences and they promised a refund of at least one night. This was nearly 2 months ago and no one has contacted us nor refunded us the money. We have been sending emails to the property constantly and they do not even reply.

Hope that at some point we get our money but do not go to this hotel, Phi Phi is full of better oppportunities!

For a cheap price you have a super clean room with a confortable bed and a/c. Relatively close to all the markets/party (no noise). We had a good night here

Bad points: no lift, bathroom walls are a bit broken but that's ok.

Good economy hotel, very clean and with essential facilities (free water). 10 min walking distance from the center but good facility.

Hotel was better than expected, so we were plesently surprised (the hotel should update their pictures).

The receptionist was very very helpful, giving us great hints and tips and also guiding us to a trusted tour agents to book our tour.

The rooms were nice and the hotel has free unlimited tea, coffee and water.

The only negative is that it can be very noisy when the guests venture back to the hotel after a night of drinking as walls and doors are thin (maybe try book the second floor if possible).

Great hotel, great service. Stayed there for a week and definitely comming back. Special thanks to Fon, she made my stay extra special
