Backpack Hostel

I absolutely loved my stay here! As soon as I walked in, the host Apple made me and my friend feel so welcomed and at home. The hostel itself is very lovely with a nice rooftop hangout and very comfortable beds. Both Apple and the staff were so kind! Apple was especially helpful in figuring out and booking day travels (would recommend the jungle trek), how best to get around, booking to Laos, and everything in between! She is so genuine and I shared some wonderful conversations with her and some good cuddles with her adorable dog Wesley. Will be staying again next time I’m in Chiang Rai!

Stayed here for two nights the location and facilities at the hostel is very good. The host was amazing, i got into a motorbike acciedent while staying with her and she took me to the hospital and stayed by my side the whole time making sure i was okay. Even though i was a solo traveller she made me feel so welcome and less alone.i would really recommend staying here it has been my favourite place since coming to asia.

This is the best hostel in Chiang Rai. The price is good for the location, and the accommodation is clean for the price.

If it's this good, the staff shouldn't be that good, but when I chatted in the morning with the friendly Apple (the person) and the cute Wesley (the dog) at the reception, it was a breeze for 10 to 20 minutes.

He was a host who gave me a good impression of the city itself. I recommend it.

The only two showers in the hostel are both broken. Only cold water and there almost is no water coming out the shower head at all. Water regulated knob broken in one and missing in the other.

Really amazing! The beds are big and comfortable, it is very hygienic and location is near the bus station; ideal. But above all, the host is incredibly friendly and helpful. If I am ever in the area again, I will definitely come back!:)

Staff were very kind and helpful, beds were comfy enough, location is good and nearby markets and food options. A good place for a few nights, central, you can book activities and transportation to other places easily through here.

Staff keeps the a/c remote and it's set to 27, so it doesn't get very cool in the rooms.
Each floor had a toilet and shower, but the shower on my floor had no water pressure so I could not use it.

Rooftop was a great space and beautiful view, though I wish the chairs were more comfortable. And there's no coverage from the rain so the bean bags and the floor are always pretty wet, leaving seating options limited.

Loved this hostel, Apple was so kind and helpful. I really recommended doing the day trip to the main sites in Chiang Rai, was amazing and got to see everything in a day.

Also great location near the night bazaar and bus station.

A few recommendations would be to put curtains on the beds as the rooms are quite small so be nice to have that privacy and put lights in the beds as the room was quite dark. Other than that loved my stay and would 100% stay here again.

I cannot say enough good things about this place.

First and foremost the owners, Ness and Apple, and maid are SO kind and helpful, it is evident they truly care about your experience there and in Chiang Rai. Ness recommended and booked a day tour for me of all of the main sights of the area and I highly recommend it, so much was packed in and the guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. As another example of how wonderful they are: I was having issues with my bus tickets and Apple made several calls to different bus companies and then *walked with me* to the station and communicated on my behalf to ensure I got to the right place.

The facilities are spotless and secure, AC in the rooms is at a merciful 25°, and beds are the most comfortable I’ve had in a hostel. Also an unbeatable location a one minute walk from the bus station and the night market/food court. Their adorable French Bulldog, Wesley, is the cherry on top.

Wonderful lovely space! Love the entire design and atmosphere. Wanted to stay another night but it was booked out already. I really liked the people working there:)

This has to be one of the best hostel experiences of my life. The owners are amazing people, so helpful and welcoming you feel right at home. We even invited each other out a couple of times. It's very easy to make friends and you really end up feeling like in a big, messy family. The rooms are clean, the location is the absolute best you could get, not to mention the lovely rooftop perfect for a good book or late night talks. Last, but not least, the hostel's Mascott (Weasley) is an adorable dog who will make your stay a little more precious.

I Never really leave a review but this has to be on of the best hostels I have been. I the owners are super friendly, helpful and knowledgeable about Chiang Rai. Lovely place with everything you need. They made my stay in Chiang rai superb.

Super friendly staff, great location, awesome style and good facilities.
Location: The hostel is right next to the bus station, so it's the perfect location for people who arrive in Chiang Rai by bus. There's a night market just outside and any stores you might be searching. From the bus station, you can e.g. Take a 25 baht bus to the White Temple.
Staff: Nes is a super cool and friendly guy. I asked for information about crossing the border to Laos and he happily explained it to me. Just the same with any information I needed. He also waited for me when my bus arrived later and he's always greeting us and making us feel welcome.
Hostel facilities: The beds were comfy, there's electricity right at the bed, hot showers, enough bathrooms, free tea, coffee and cocoa, water, bananas and cookies. The rooms/beds are nothing special, but they're clean and good to sleep in. There's also a rooftop chill area with some weights, but I haven't used it.

Perfect location in a side street close to the main bus station. Hosts are very friendly and helpful. Best part is the roof terrace, which really invites to just chill there at the evening / night.

For context, I only spend one night here. Nevertheless I had a great connection with the friendly owners. They also rent scooters on the spot and help or organize tours for you. The place is stylishly decorated with an industrial theme going on. The rooftop is great for meeting people and other things like a workout or meditation. It’s clean and felt safe to me. The location it very practical, around the corner from the bus station.

Backpack Hostel was fantastic! The room was very clean, and the hostel was in a great location, particularly for the bus station and the night market. The hosts were great, really friendly and helpful - gave us lots of tips on what to do in Chiang Rai, as well as the border crossing to Laos. The lockers in reception were handy when we arrived before check-in. Wesley the dog was also super cute!

This hostel is very nice if you come in Chiang Rai. The location is perfect, very close to the night market and the town center. And close to the bus station 1. The owners and there cuty dog are so friendly and helpful, they rent good scooter and they can give you some tips to visit many places around Chiang Rai. The hostel is very clean, there is all time coffee tea hot water bananas and biscuits for free. The roof top is very good to chill and meet peoples. I recommend this place at 200%!

Great place to stay in Chiang Rai. The owners are super friendly and very accommodating. The hostel is conveniently located and has a nice rooftop area to sit and chill on an evening.

Don’t be fooled by the old negative reviews! The new owners took over a year ago and have made it into the best hostel my partner and I have ever stayed in!

Apple, Ness and Wesley are the most unbelievable hosts we’ve had the pleasure to stay at. They are so kind and genuine. They truly put their hearts and souls into the hostel and it makes it such a lovely, warm place to stay.

I would also recommend calling them and booking directly (otherwise they lose money to third parties). Their English is fantastic and they’re very personable with great recommendations. Super easy to hire bikes through them and plan our stay in Chiang Rai.

The rooms were fresh, modern, clean and well kept. Nice showers/bathrooms, towels included! There’s even a bit of gym equipment which we don’t often come across. The owners set such a nice vibe that it encourages guests to be sociable and we made friends sitting on the cool rooftop in the eve.

Amazing Hostel. Very warm and friendly owners. Rooftop is amazing with little gym and places to chill. Free Coffee, Tea and Cookies all day!
