Totally recommended!
It is not a large place but it is very curious (quite careful).

There is an entrance fee of 20 baht per person to enter the cave temple.
If you want to see only the stone pagoda, there is an admission fee and you can only see the stone pagoda by climbing the upper stairs.
You must take off your shoes when entering the cave temple.
When I went there, I didn't see any bats in the cave temple.

I liked it because it was quiet and quiet.
In the morning, I walked slowly to Bankang Wat after seeing Wat Umong. It was a nice 20-minute walk as it was a flat area with many cafes nearby.

The review says there is no admission fee, but it seems there is a 20 baht per person admission fee rule.
People who are scared will be surprised because there are surprisingly many bats and the ceiling is closer than expected.
It's nice to walk quietly inside alone, but it smells a bit like mold, perhaps because I went on a cloudy day.

One of the essential stops in Chiang Mai. There is peace and tranquility, and we liked it more than, for example, Doi Suthep. It is less crowded (September) and is different since you see different Buddhas through some tunnels and a very old stupa. It can be done perfectly without a guide or excursion. In the tunnels you have to take off your shoes.

Wat Umong was very kool. The temple grounds were beautiful. We saw chickens, squirrels, bats, and two howling beagles. Inside the tunnels was neat. Went there with Trip Guru and our wonderful guide “Banana”. I would love to go back and explore the whole temple complex

I went on a tour with Doi Suthep. It was unique because it was a temple inside a cave. It's dark, gloomy and damp. It is close to Ban Kang Wat, so please visit it together.

The Vipassana retreat that I did here was the best that I have ever done. I thought that the teacher was good. The structure of the day was good. The rooms were appropriate.

The temple itself is really beautiful. It has ancient tunnels with altars and a large pond full of fish and turtles. The atmosphere is extremely tranquil. This place is as good as your ever going to find.

Majestic and beautiful. The whole temple is surrounded by nature, and there are many small animals in the temple. The temple also provides meditation experience, and foreigners can also sign up. The difference from other temples is that the Buddha statue is in a cave, and it feels like going through a tunnel when walking in. During the walk, I also saw an upside-down bat resting.

Probably the best temple complex in Chiang Mai because it is set in the forest than the city. The buildings are more like ruins which adds to the mystique of it. The underground is cool. There is a meditation centre near by which would be nice to check out, the next time I am through.

It was pretty nice, but really nothing special. Only a few of the places look interesting. The tunels are really small, you can walk through them in like 3 minutes. It might be worth visiting if you have some time left in Chiang Mai. Just take a songthaew, its only 30 baht one way.

On the one hand: it’s an interesting tunnel temples with some ancient murals and a remarkable stupa. There is also a replica an Asoka pillar.

On the other hand: it’s not well maintained with no English speaking staff in the museum and temple (which is really a shame given the interesting history of this place). The toilets are dirty and rubbish is just flying around. Quite sad.

Also worth mentioning: there are weirdos lying on the ground “practicing meditation” on the pathways.

Wonderful place for meditating and connecting with nature and the strong spirituality of Buddhism. Nothing impressive or big, not so much a tourist photo spot, but great for introspection. Lots of dogs around.

Fantastic outing for families. Amazing old temples, tunnels, statues and pagoda. Lovely nature. Lake full of fish, turtles and loads of birds. Great dumpling stall run by Gap. 20 Baht for 4.

Very natural scenery. As maybe all the temples looked before they were swallowed by the concrete jungle that is the town.
