Mövenpick Suriwongse Hotel Chiang Mai

The lobby was wow, everything was beautiful and we thought, well why just one night.

When we were in the room, it was only good for one night. That's just how it works.

The 4 stars are no longer there - the room is shabby and worn out. The furnishings are very outdated and can no longer be beautifully reframed due to the existing investment and renovation backlog.

The location is TOP, no question - but anyone who expects 4* or even the usual Mövenpick quality here is wrong.

We are traveling as tourists and booked the hotel through a German tour operator and a superior room, which possibly makes up the majority of the room in the house. Room is in Block C opposite the bus collection station - so you can still hear it even on the 7th floor when the buses come in the morning come.

You can also hear the delivery driver arriving below us because at 5 a.m. Large cars were already being loaded and unloaded.

Windows are anything but safe. Very easy for children to open with the couch in front of it.

Bathtub: Faucet dripped all night long.

I pass on the pictures and my experiences to the organizer to protect other guests.

Yes, the breakfast is very good and rich and there is also free chocolate in the afternoon

But that doesn't make up for the tired rooms.

Mövenpick is or was once a product that was in the high-price segment. Some 3 star Ibis in Bangkok have a more feel-good character - PS we travel a lot in Asia. Thailand and Vietnam

Movenpick

I stayed here for three nights. I chose this hotel because of its location, and it did not fail me. The lobby was roomy. I saw the cafe, and I think it is pretty dated. When I checked in, I was informed that I was upgraded to a suite - what a way to start my vacation.

No one assisted me to my room, so yeah. When I entered the room, the interior looked like it was built around the late 90’s. But the bed and the bathroom were very nice. The bed is plush, and the pillows were nice. The bathroom is roomy but dated. The tiles were blue - honestly, I wouldn't say I liked the bathroom's colour. Overall, I like it for the bed and the huge space I have.

For breakfast, they have a lot of choices. From local breakfast to western to eastern - name it, you’ll get it. The cafe looks dated, but I don’t mind. The servers were attentive, which I liked.

In conclusion, I find this hotel simple yet has character. I hope they will improve the facilities and amenities of the hotel soon before it is too late. I will recommend this hotel to my friends and those who like to be where the action is in Chiang Mai. A hidden gem, I would say.

Very good hotel, and matkets next to it. We added an extra bed, which was super uncomfortable that we had to put the mattress on the floor. The breakfast is not good. It made us some stomachs. But, the rooms are good, and the lobby is gorgeous.
And they ugraded us to a better and bigger room. So it was nice.

Descent location. Rooms and cleanliness is average.

Gym is not usuable. Equipment all spoiled.

Absolutely shocking, couldn't believe this is accor group hotel and the worst Movenpick Chain ever.i'm writing this as on behalf of my brother who is Platinum member.and got upgraded to this so-called Suite.
The bl**dy PM2.5 reading in the bedroom was 141! As high as the outside, indicating there was no air-purification system installed.this is terribly shocking.apart from that, the suite room that look like 2-star run down bedroom.that has no design element, nor reflecting the Accor brand identity.honestly, I am starting to doubt the Accor's value.

Perfect stay in great location!
We stayed in the hotel for 5 days and there is nothing negative to say about it: the reception and service staff was friendly, the room was nice & clean, all amenities were changed daily (including coffee, tee, cold and room temperature water, towels, etc). We once had an issue with our toilet and it was fixed within minutes.

The location was perfect and literally 1-2 mins walking from multiple night markets, 5 mins from a laundry service and 1-2 mins from a 7-11.

Who doesn’t feel like eating outside: the restaurant downstairs (I forgot the name) offers buffet options that are good value for money (e.g. Dim sum on Saturday’s for lunch and rice buffet on Wednesday to Friday evenings). We tried both buffets once and were super happy with them - on the remaining nights we went to the night markets.

As an additional plus: since this is a mövenpick, they offer daily chocolate „surprises“ between 4-5 pm in the hotel lobby (see picture)

We stayed at the Mövenpick for three nights in July 2022. The hotel is located next to the Night Market and within walking distance of the Old City. We had a super spacious room with a shower and bath. Solely based on this, we would give the hotel a five star rating. On top of that, the staff set our stay apart from prior hotel experiences. They were exceptionally welcoming and really made us feel at home. We hope to stay with them again in the future.

I find the hotel is in an excellent location in the city with everything within walking distance. The room is clean and reasonably spaced. Hotel staff is courteous and friendly. However, I find their shower is not so enjoyable, pressure is good, but water temperature is not easily control, the provided shower and hair gel is only acceptable, no hair dryer, Good lightning up of the room when needed, but air-conditioning cannot be control except fan, you may find it super cold at times especially if you are at the air throw (for my room, the writing desk). Breakfast is good, provides you reasonably selection to start your day. Finally price is among the most competitive for sizable hotels that is near to it. I would give a 10/10 if they can improve the bathroom experience, and remove the curb at the bathroom for safety? Trip a few times when not alert.

Stayed from 29 sep 2019-1 oct 2019. Our stay was upgraded to luxury suite on arrival. Staff was pretty polite and helpful. A different place to be when in thailand.

Overall is good to stay. Old hotel but well maintained. Convenient location to access many places. Except the gym which there is one facility is out of service, and there are only two.hope they can fix it soon for the coming guests.

I had the best time here. I went to Chiang Mai everyear for my birthday but this was the first time i stayed in Movenpick and i can say i will keep this hotel as my first choice after this. The location is amazing, u really dont need to rent a car if u stay here. The staffs are all so friendly and helpful. I arrived at 9.30 am, and they have my room ready for me. They prepared a birthday surprised for me which caught me by surprised when their staffs came to my room with birthday cake and signed birthday card. I have to catch an early morning flight to go home and they prepared a breakfast to go for me ready when i checked out at 6am. The room are perfectly clean and well maintained. My 5 days stay was made perfect by staying here.

Hotel is a bit dated especially room carpets.
Cleaning got to improve with stinks of cigarette in every room.
Only location is good.

A satisfactory hotel for business as well leisure travellers. It is one of the oldest hotel in Chiang Mai although maintenance will not prove it. Rooms are good. Breakfast spread is good too. There is a in-house Spa and its different from the spas you find in Pattaya and Bangkok. It provides authentic service. Spa service can be taken in the room with a very minor premium. The best part of the hotel is its location which is unbeatable. You step out from the hotel and you find everything. Night market is stone throw away. Inumerable options of dining lies just outside the hotel. European guests love this hotel and I have seen almost all family guests staying during my visit. Reception is big and staffs are very helpful.

We prefered green projectwhich we skip changing the bed sheet and all linens but your guys come to the room and clear the trash and touch up in room nicely.
Morning breakfast has a variety choices and good Chef and FB staff.
