Ban Pakkad Border Checkpoint

2024.1.6. I went to the border here via Batambong to try to cross Thailand by motorcycle from Siem Reap, Cambodia. I was told that I could not pass through by motorcycle, so I asked to see my passport and asked if the motorcycle was in my name. I said no. They said no. If the motto is not in your name, it will be difficult even if you have a registration certificate.

It was clean check point.i could same day visa run.payed only 1300b for arrival visa.that’s all.no extra charge,
though a bit long interview at passport control.but nothing ploblem.when i went there, no agency around check point and
no waiting line.i could done all within 30min.

Fast and Stress-free. You can easily pay in Thai bath (Dec. 2023: 1300 TBH). No picture needed.

Crossing into Cambodia was straight forward. Thailand stamps you out (free) and then you walk over. Cambodian Visa on arrival at Visa desk next to the actual border agent booths. No ATM available. The 30USD (Nov 2023) can easily be paid in Thai bath 1300 and (to my surprise) they even return change in Thai Bath).
No apparently „foto copy scam“ at the actual border agents anymore. They just scan you passports main page and do their other paper work, before handing back your passport. Easy.

Very friendly and helpful at the thai immigration here. No problem on the Cambodian side either.

I just did this trip from inner Bangkok yesterday. You need to leave if you're driving any vehicle before 9am for sure.
The whole checkpoint is very easy, no photos required, fill out departure card at Window 8, submit at window called Departures, then like one window further is Tourist 30 day visa for Cambodia, cost 1400 THB, got it in 5 mins, then next windows are entering Cambodia and if you want like I did Departures from Cambodia if you want to go back to Thailand on the same day.
Important points: wear long sleeves if you're driving motorbike
BRING enough power bank for your devices, especially mobile phone, bring one extra phone that you can switch sim card over in case of emergency (or just plan your route offline somehow if you lose internet for some reason.
There are not many petrol/gasoline stations on the route that Google suggested for me to take.there were times when I need to creatively scout for the small electronic pumps that are coin-or-bill deposit. I almost got stuck without gas. Then I drove back in the dark with no internet or maps or any map written down.somehow I followed a big truck that looked like it had farm crops going to Bangkok. I ended up on some motorway out east near the other border Arunthepatep or something like that
Plan well. Unexpected things do happen.

CAMBODIA: Needed a printed copy of my ELECTRONIC Visa to exit Cambodia. 1/5 Cambodia great way to leave bitter taste in ones mouth after 3.5 great weeks cycling in the country.

THAILAND: 4/5 the office was great, friendly and helpful. Sadly still have to do paper arrival cards unlike the airport. Asked another foriegner where he got his at Window 9. Didn't see a sign for that anywhere, nor desk or pens but thats expected, I guess.

Crossed with my bicycle from Cambodia to Thailand.
Monday 6am, there were a lot of people, but didn't have any problem crossing.
Personal was efficient
I was the only non-Asian there.

This is not a bad bordering crossing post. But the line-up for visa on arrival can be pretty stressful. Unlike arrival by air, you have to fill in an entry form but there's no sign that you need to do so. You need to get the form from window 8. There's no line there. There are 4-5 windows for arriving travelers.

Van transport to Chanthaburi is sparse, 1-2 per day, and 6-7 departures to Bangkok. The ticket office is to the right of the exit from customs. You can ask the people at the shops or the food stalls. Arriving before noon will have a better chance of catching a bus.

เจ้าหน้าที่ตม ควรปรับปรุงทัศนคติ และการทำงาน ถ้าหากไม่พร้อมทำงานบริการที่เป็นราชการแบบนี้ ควรไปทำอย่างอื่น งานก็สบาย คนไปใช้บริการเค้าต้องการคำแนะนำและความสะดวก มีหน้าที่ทำงาน ก็ควรทำงานตัวเองให้ได้เต็มที่ ไม่ว่าจะบริการคนไทย หรือชาวกัมพูชา คนจ่ายหรือคนไม่จ่าย พูดจากับใครควรมีเป็นมาตรฐาน ถ้าไม่จริง มาเถียงได้ นี่ปี 2022 ปีถัดๆไปมาอ่านดูรีวิวได้ ดูซิจะมีพัฒนาขึ้นบ้างแค่ไหน

ทำไมต้องรอ 3 ชั่วโมงเวลาเข้า ตังก็เสีย พาสปอตก็เสียตังทำเอง ถ้ามีคนที่เขามีธุระก็เสียเวลาฟรีสิ เวลาพูดนี้เหมือนจะฆ่าแกง ผมก็งง งานบริการหรือบังคับทำหรอ เวลาแต้มเหมือนไม่เต็มใจทำให้เลย

เจ้าหน้าที่รับโทรศัพย์ควรปรับปลุงวิธีการพูดกับบุคคลสาธารณะทั่วไปให้ดีกว่านี้หรือให้คำแนะนำที่ดี ที่โทรไปถามเพราะเค้าไม่รู้จึงถาม น้ำเสียงและวิธีการแนะจึงน่าจะต้องไม่กระโชกโฮกฮากแบบนี้นะครับ คุณเป็นข้าราชการนะไม่เป็นนายเค้า อ่ออีกอย่างเค้าเสียภาษีถูกต้องตามกฏหมายเพื่อจ่ายเงินเดือนพวกคุณนะครับฝากด้วย
