ห้างไนติงเกลใช้การโฆษณาทางโทรทัศน์เพื่อประชาสัมพันธ์ห้างเป็นเจ้าแรก ๆ ในประเทศไทย รวมไปถึงกิจกรรมอื่น ๆ ที่จัดเพื่อดึงดูดลูกค้าวัยรุ่น ซึ่งเป็นกลุ่มเป้าหมายในยุคนั้น มีคำขวัญหรือสโลแกนของห้างว่า “คลังแห่งเครื่องกีฬา ราชาเครื่องดนตรี ราชินีเครื่องสำอาง”

ห้างไนติงเกล ยังเป็นเสมือนฟิตเนสแห่งแรกของประเทศไทย โดยเมื่อเริ่มแรกทางห้างจะมี จักรยานปั่นออกกำลังกาย, ลู่วิ่ง, ดรัมเบลไว้บริการลูกค้า โดยคิดราคาชั่วโมงละ 100 บาท ส่วนแผนกเครื่องสำอางก็มีโต๊ะเครื่องแป้ง อุปกรณ์แต่งหน้า-ทำผม ซึ่งเป็นเสมือนสถานเสริมความงามเพื่อให้บริการลูกค้าในยุคนั้น

ปัจจุบันห้างดังกล่าวกำลังประสบปัญหาขาดทุน โดยพบว่าระหว่างปี 2554–2560 บริษัทฯ ขาดทุนรวมกว่า 10,000 ล้านบาท โดยมาร์เก็ตเทียร์วิเคราะห์ว่า เนื่องจากยังไม่ปรับตัวเข้ากับยุคสมัยใหม่ได้ดีเท่าที่ควรและลูกค้าประจำซึ่งเป็นผู้สูงอายุเสียชีวิตกันไปมาก

Thought it would be an interesting thing to see, and it was in some respects, but was mostly meh

Apparently it's Thailand's oldest department store. However, it feels like the building and products have been abandoned for about 50 years. I've seen department stores like this in communist countries like China and Cuba. When I made up my mind to go inside, I found only a few older, older women sitting there like ornaments. I came because I wanted to see something scary, but for some reason taking photos inside the store was prohibited. I think if they were more open to taking pictures of the museum as a souvenir from the era, more tourists who like B-class would flock there. This department store doesn't have anything to sell (there's nothing I'd pay money to buy). Maybe they don't have any intention of doing any serious business. If that's the case, then for what purpose does this place continue to exist? Owner's tax measures? Well, if you are interested in a department store where time has stopped, please give it a try.

I heard legends about the antiques in this place. But it is far from that. The third floor is locked down. The second is full with old and dusty sports-equipment. The first is full with even more stuff but so unorganized and so dirty that you have no taste to buy here. It is also ridiculously overpriced for 50-100 yrs old items.

Who wants to buy open perfume bottles from decades ago or old yellow bra?
Nothing nostalgic here. Just junk.
No sales person ever asked me what I want while I was there. Not even a "hello". They were all just hanging there.

Just by looking at the shop window from the street, you can already feel the danger.
There are no customers inside, and the clerk's aunt has been following me all the time to prevent theft, so I can't look at it calmly. Even when I laughed amiably, she was expressionless all the time, and in the end it was a stubborn rivalry with the aunt.

วันนี้ไปอุดหนุนมาแล้วครับ พนักงานน่ารัก เป็นกันเอง น่ารักน่าซื้อ ของจะเป็นแบบวินเทจทั้งหมด แต่ยังคงความสวยงามอยู่ ยังไงก็ดีใจที่ได้มีส่วนร่วมกับห้างแห่งนี้

ผมไม่ได้ที่คิดจะถ่ายรูปอาคารแห่งนี้ แต่ผมรู้สึกเหมือนเคยผ่านอะไรสักอย่าง แล้วรู้สึกเหมือนอยากถ่ายรูปอีกครั้งหนึ่ง โดยเฉพาะห้างไนติงเกล ห้างสรรพสินค้าที่เก่าแก่ที่ยังเปิดกิจการอยู่ ถือว่าห้างสรรพสินค้าในระดับตำนานในประวัติศาสตร์ก็ว่าได้ครับ

Love this place! This isn't a department store, it's a time machine that transports you to the past with its store displays and merchandise. Maybe you can also call it an unintentional museum. I wonder when they stopped selling stuff and decided to keep most of their items instead for display. But I guess that's why the place is so special, as I don't think anything has changed since the 1960s-1970s. I also wonder how they pay their staff as the majority of items are not for sale. That said, I did purchase some inexpensive items. The staff might eye you warily when you enter but they're actually quite friendly and helpful. Do read up on their history before you go so you can understand what this gem of a place is all about. Oh and photography is not allowed, so just go and immerse yourself in the old school vibes of this past perfect emporium.

ใครอยากหาอุปกรณ์กีฬา vintage ให้มาที่นี่ได้เลยครับ
This is the oldest, still operating department store in Thailand right now. They specialized in sport goods. You can find vintage (or I would say antique) sport goods in here. Even the fat jiggling machine from 1950s.

WILD place with old things however they will follow you around and check to make sure you didn’t steal anything if you are a foreigner! If that doesn’t bother you, definitely worth a visit

ห้างในติ้งเกล ชื่อเดิมคือ ในติงเกล-โอลิมปิค ห้างสรรพสินค้าที่มีอายุยืนยาวที่สุดในประเทศไทยคือเกือบ 100 ปีแล้ว ก่อตั้งเมื่อพ. ศ. 2473 ตัวอาคารสามคูหาเจ็ดชั้น อยู่ใกล้แยกพาหุรัด ถนนตรีเพชร ห้างนี้น่าจะเป็นห้างแรกเปิดฟิตเนส ช่วงแรกๆ จะมีจักรยานปั่นออกกำลังกาย มีลู่วิ่ง มีดรัมเบล ไว้บริการลูกค้า

Some interesting old and odd items in here. It is fun to look inside if you are in the neighborhood.

หนึ่งในประวัติศาสตร์ห้างเก่าแก่ของเมืองไทย มีสินค้าชั้นนำมากมายและรุ่งเรืองมากในอดีต และปัจจุบันก็ยังคงอยู่ เห็นแล้วนึกถึงตอนเป็นเด็กเพราะเรียนแถวนั้น คนขายอัธยาศัยดีครับ

This place transports you to the classic past. You can sense the 70s-90s atmosphere at this place. It freezes the time at that era.

Many people say it's overrated but you have to keep in mind that it doesn't have any profits in the past years and the owners fight to keep this place alive.

Very old it's keep their own signature for very long time I've understand because this place was a first mall in Bangkok but it's should be a museum soon because a product on this mall is too old to sale

An old department store selling really old items from ‘70s and ‘80s. All sorts of things like instruments, tennis racquets, greetings cards, bras. Walk around, it’s an interesting place.

As a vintage lover I would say this is somewhat overrated. There is literally two small floors with a very small selection of plain tennis shirts and alike. I picked up one hat to look at it and the attendant walked over and grabbed it out of my hand and put it back. Was rather intense and definitely not worth the cab ride there.
Note: some old and interesting marching drums upstairs.

Interesting place, wish they would open up more floors, I am positive there are some more hidden gems
