Plaeng Nam Shark Fin-Bird's Nest

Had a good birds nest dessert here. The pepper stir fry abalone was very good. Lots of choices on the menu. Place is a little bit small but we were the only ones eating there at the time so it didn't matter.

Not the best restaurant for the atmosphere and the service which is simply ok without any smiles but the job gets done.
The dishes are quite nice and quite generous.
A little expensive perhaps but to try the swallows' nests, the prices around are identical.

Fish maw soup was so good that i stopped eating halfway to post this review.pro tip: add the white pepper and vinegar to your soup

Food was bland, poor quality ingredients. Sharksfin had a musky taste, “abalone” rice was not real abalone. Only edible dish was the oyster egg, even so it was mediocre. Birds nest was watery and very fragmented Do not come. Do not be tempted due to its long standing history. Go to nam sing down the street. Food is here dismal

The clerk's sister's face was stinky, and she kept rolling her eyes. Meals are mediocre and expensive. I ordered bird's nest and fried oyster eggs, I knew I would go to the next door.

A very small shop with limited seating. Order the bird nest and shark fin, quite nice and worth the trip.

Wonderful experience, ate too much! Had a craving for duck so got the deep fried duck breasts small portion. Well it was huge, five breasts; had to leave most of it there. Tried the birds nest soup which I didn't care for, had a sweet flavor and it wasn't cheap. Everything with a humongous Chang beer!

DO NOT EAT SHARK FINS!
They get cut from alive sharks.
Then, they let them die in the sea.

Watery and over shredded. 200 baht is no longer the same as the 100 baht bird nest it was compared back to 5 years ago.

Please DO NOT go! Untidy, messy shop, wif boxes all over the floor, etc. Very bad service. Only 2 staff, who can’t speak English nor Chinese. When we tried to feedback tat the coconut bird nest has so many inner skin of the husk mixed in the bird nest, which really spoilt the experience of us enjoying the bird nest, the staff couldn’t understand wat we said.but when she saw the many husk’s inner-skin mixed wif the bird nest, she didn’t even smile nor apologize, just walked away to talk to another Thai staff. And they never came back to talk abt it at all.
Moreover, we saw exactly how they scooped the bird nest, as they did it just outside the seating area. They only scooped one tablespoon of bird nest in. It was pathetic.
We paid and walked over to next door Burapa and ordered the same $ of bird nest. We saw they used 2 big scoops of bird nest.instead of only a tablespoon. The service at Burapa is also fantastic. If u need bird nest, you definitely get more value to eat at Burapa instead of Plaeng Nam.

Friendly staff and knowledgeable. I'd recommend coming here if you are looking for teas while in Thailand.

Just visited after reading good reviews. Was so disappointed. Overpriced. Food was bland. I very rarely give any review, more so for bad ones. But this place was just so bad.

Very nice steam bird nest in coconut dessert. Definitely wasn't stingy with their ingredients. Only Rm 30 for a decent size serving. Worth a visit

We were not impressed. Restaurant is very small and looks untidy. Had the 500bht bird's nest here as well at next door Burapa. Burapa's had more bird's nest in it and also came with a raw egg, honey and gingko nuts to add to the dessert if you like. It was definitely a better deal.
