You have successfully completed the first stage of the class. Thai has difficult letters, but teaching it using English sounds helped me read and speak.
The teacher understood the level of the learners well and was able to understand them even if they were not good at expressing themselves. I think it's more fun to learn a language locally from a local person.
Thank you Kru Thung!

The right way to learn Thai - look no further! Duke language school makes learning enjoyable and fun. I just finished Journey 1 with Kruu (teacher) June. She was amazing and highly motivating. Her way of teaching
made learning easy and she made always sure everyone can follow the lesson and was always in great spirit. Her positive energy is contagious. The daily 3 hour lesson flew bye and I was looking forward to the next day! Here you enjoy learning Thai! Thank you Kruu June and team Duke

Duke Language school is awesome. Extremely helpful, friendly and responsive staff. They will take care of you and make the visa process easy. Regarding classes, Kruu June was really funny, helpful, and made learning Thai very enjoyable. Furthermore, Duke structures the curriculum in a very practical, useful way. If you actually care about learning Thai then I'd highly recommend Duke.

Skilled teacher will make you advance quickly and other students are serious about learning. Their text book is very sophisticated. Thai reading and writing doesn't make any sense but you can learn it sooner or later in duke

I've been studying Thai at Duke language school since January this year and continued with Journey 2 today.

From Journey 1 I can say that I really appreciate the energy, positivity and humor kruu Mim brings to class. It makes the online class engaging and something to look forward too. I think this is a great accomplishment as this is the first language I study online (studied 5 others before), but I would say it's the best learning experience.

On top of this I feel the slides and the book are also really well put together.

I don't see any improvements, Duke has a great reputation and now I understand why.

First of all, learning any language is a lot of hard work. Anyone who tells you that there is a magic pill is telling you a lie. I am a native Chinese speaker and speak fluent English. I have also studied Korean in Korea for 9 months and some Japanese on the side. The Duke Language School is truly the best for several reasons.

1. Overall management. When I first started contacting the school, I was communicating with the manager Royce. He patiently answered all my questions and concerns regarding learning Thai and the Thailand's education visa. When I had some issues in class, he immediately stepped in and we connected over the phone to resolve my issues. I also can tell how excellent this school has been run just based on the quality of the staff and the teachers. They don't take any short cuts at all. You can tell that this organization has a top-notch leadership and a clear vision. That speaks volume about the manager Royce's work.

2. Once Royce has helped me as much as he can, I was passed on to an administrator named Ting. I am not at a young age and I have dealt with my fair share of administration staff both in my own past business and in my daily life. Ting is an excellent administrator and point person for the school. She prepared all my documents to apply for the ED (education) visa. She told me the timeline on what should happen next and when should happen. She is just extremely good at her job. If you are an English speaker, you most likely will have her as your administrator. Trust me, you will appreciate her as much as I have.

3. I have just finished the first month of class learning Thai (Journey 1). I had teacher Zen as my teacher. I had many language teachers in my life. None of them could compare to teacher Zen. She is a bit over the top, but that's what makes her funny and engaging. She works extremely hard to achieve perfection, and that is to teach the Thai language to novices in the simplest and most interesting way possible. In every class, I laughed so much and there is nothing better to learn a language through laughter. Before we started every class, her whiteboard was always full. She meant business and was always well prepared. If you do choose to come to this school, I would highly recommend you to ask your administrator on who your teacher will be. If you can, try to get into teacher Zen's class. You will not be disappointed.

So, the management is 100%, the administration is 100%, and the teacher is 100%. What is not 100%? Well, I would have to give the curriculum a 90%. The reason is that the speed of the course is very fast. Even after I passed Journey 1 with flying colors, I felt that I have not mastered the material yet. But to be fair, the school is designed to get you out of the door in 9 months to be conversationally fluent in Thai and be able to function in the Thai society. That's a highly ambitious goal for any language. So to be honest, I would not hold that against the Duke Language School. It's meant to be difficult and challenging. You will have to study after class. If you don't, you will fall behind. Overall, I give Duke a huge thumbs up. If you want to come to Bangkok to study Thai, look no further than the Duke Language School.

It was an amazing experience, and as soon as I can I will do journey 2. Kruu Namwan is a wonderful teacher, always available to answer and help us. It was a really intensive month of studying, but I am so happy that I did it and that between all the schools I chose Duke Language school. I have learned a lot. Thank you so much!

Great teachers and content for the classes. Duke was very helpful with processing the ED visa, with great communication throughout the whole process. However the classes are larger than I would like (10-13 people in the lower levels). If you are serious about learning the Thai language, Duke is highly recommended.

For my first language course, it was a lot better than I expected. Mostly, it was Kruu Mim who made the class enjoyable. It is very interactive and you learn in a very fast and entertaining way. I am a bit sad that she is not teaching other classes. I liked the constant repetition and positive feedback after every response/answer to a question. The activities and lesson plan was well thought out as well in terms of time management and content. I look forward to taking more classes at Duke Language.

Learning at Duke language school has been an enriching experience. I had explored several language schools but the course pedagogy & the course fees here were the most compelling.

The school offers trial class for learners to experience how an actual class is conducted. The classes are held in Thai & students are encouraged to speak in Thai right from the first class.

As a beginner or someone with no proficiency in thai language, you may find this daunting but the teachers are genuinely encouraging. In just about 3 classes of my Journey-1 course, I could make basic sentences.

One of the definite positives has been the course design. The chapters have a coherent flow & the classes are engaging. Every student has a facetime with the teacher so you are definitely making steady progress. My course instructor (Kruu Mim) was an absolute delight. She was pleasant & ensured we students were having fun as we try to learn the language. Duke Language school is strongly recommended to all learners out there!

If you are looking for a reliable, professional Thai language school, search no more. Duke Language School WILL teach you Thai, whether you like it or not
Jokes aside, it's by far the best Thai school in Bangkok, for sure. The opinions you read here are 100% valid. The teachers are fun and professional, the methods they use are engaging and challenging. It all makes you learn more and more each day with revision of previous days as well. The course started in class in April but later moved to online classes and I'd say it was amazing what they did. Online learning is no less fun and work, it's also all thoroughly prepared, just like the in-class learning.
The Admin Team helped me all the way from getting an ED visa and making each extension deadline a seamless process. All was explained, all questions answered.
I'd recommend this place 10/10 times.
Thank you DLS!

Journey 1 with Kruu Zen was a wonderful introduction to the Thai Language. Kruu Zen, kruu Namwaan and kruu Huda who was our substitute teacher for one morning were delightful and they all worked so hard for our experiences. Cannot recommend DLS courses enough.
