Bangkokian Museum

Small but beautiful museum with very friendly staff who guide you through the rooms in an informal manner. Definitely worth seeing.

Very pretty little museum, a little oasis in the middle of the hustle and bustle of Bangkok. We discover the life of a Thai family in the 1930s and 1950s. The visit is free.

A cute little museum that you definitely have to take with you in Bangkok. It tells the story of a 20th century doctor married couple whose house is now the museum. Their houses, how they lived and what they collected are exhibited here. A big thank you goes to the employees on site who look after you very well from start to finish.

Beautiful relaxing historic home very close to Warehouse 30 and River City. The volunteers were so lovely, friendly and helpful. There are 3 houses and lots of collectibles and family heirlooms to see. The garden is beautiful too. I'd highly recommend you visit! Plus it's free!

Very cozy museum. Previously, these houses belonged to the same family, and now you can see the situation in the houses of Bangkok from the beginning to the middle of the last century.

The museum is free to visit, and you only need to fill in simple information to enter. There are three buildings in the main exhibition area, displaying various daily necessities at that time. The first building is a two-story building, located near the entrance, and was originally the home of the hostess; the second building, located directly from the entrance, is a clinic and home run by the male owner. The first floor was originally used as a clinic, and the second floor was originally used as a clinic. It is a living room and office, displaying some medical diagnostic equipment at that time; the third building is a brand-new building, with many daily necessities displayed on the first floor, and the second floor is a reading room and special exhibition area. You can also take a stroll in the garden outside.

The recommended visit time is about one hour, and some simple food and drinks are also sold in the museum.

An absolute highlight of my stay in Bangkok. What an amazingly preserved house. And all the staff are just ️

Absolutely amazed at the fact that this museum is free admission. If you want to see how a middle class bangkokian has lived at the beginning of XX century this is an absolute must see. While there there were absolutely no other visitors making for a great atmosphere for exploring.

What a delightful tranquil place to visit in bustling Bangkok. Staff very friendly and keen to tell you the history of the homes and people involved. Free entry. Good food nearby.

พิพิธภัณฑ์ชาวบางกอก เป็นพิพิธภัณฑ์ที่ให้บรรยากาศเหมือนบ้านพักที่อยู่อาศัยจริง เพราะข้าวของเครื่องใช้ที่จัดแสดงไว้ทุกชิ้น ล้วนแล้วแต่เป็นเครื่องใช้ของเจ้าบ้านตั้งแต่อดีต ซึ่งได้เก็บรักษาเครื่องเรือน เครื่องใช้ไว้เป็นอย่างดี ทำให้เราสามารถสัมผัสถึงบรรยากาศบ้านคนกรุงในยุคหลังสงครามโลกครั้งที่ 2 ได้เป็นอย่างดี ซึ่งบริเวณโดยรอบของบ้านยังคงความร่มรื่นของต้นไม้ใหญ่ และบรรยากาศบ้านไม้ทรงปั้นหยาในอดีตไว้ครบถ้วน พิพิธภัณฑ์ชาวบางกอกไม่มีที่จอดรถ ดังนั้นการเดินทางโดยรถสาธารณะน่าจะสะดวกที่สุด แต่ถ้าหากต้องการนำรถยนต์ส่วนตัวมา สามารถจอดรถในซอยได้เช่นกัน นอกจากนี้พิพิธภัณฑ์แห่งนี้ยังมีเจ้าหน้าที่และอาสาสมัครประจำอยู่ค่อนข้างน้อย บางครั้งการที่ประตูด้านหน้าพิพิธภัณฑ์ปิดเอาไว้ ก็ไม่ได้หมายความว่าจะไม่เปิดทำการ แต่เป็นไปด้วยสาเหตุของการรักษาความปลอดภัย เนื่องจากมีบุคลากรน้อยนั่นเอง

Of all the museums in Bangkok I've never received such a warm welcome as with this place. Each of the three caretakers of the three houses wanted to take my photo (for tourism purposes) and explain a little of the history and contents of the house. In one of the buildings there are some interesting photos of what Bangkok looked like before the modern age of high rise buildings.
The museum is free to visit, you just register your name and country at the entrance.

This house has good air circulation.many trees.the staff are nice and helpful.it could inspire me to make my future home later.with big windows and glass.still nearby to bangrak area saphan taksi. 1 km walking you can pass by muslim area as well.they will give you travel books to walking around the area

เดินดูแล้วเหมือนย้อนอดีตกลับไปสู่วัยเด็ก คุ้นชินกับข้าวของที่เรียงรายที่วางไว้ให้ดู คิดถึงความสุขยามเยาว์ แค่กินข้าว หาขนม อิ่มแล้วก็หาเรื่องเล่นกับเพื่อนบ้านไปก็สุขใจมากแล้ว ไม่ต้องเหนื่อยวิ่งตามสังคม ไม่ต้องหาของมาอวดกัน ถ้ามีก็เอามาเล่นด้วยกันเท่านั้น

My new favourite place in one of my favourite cities. When we visited we had the place almost to ourselves and could explore the three buildings at our leisure. The main house is beautiful and to wander its perfectly polished floors is to step back to a simpler and more elegant time. It felt like the family had just popped out and would return at any minute to eat dinner or listen to records.

Entry is free and the museum is not too far from the Si Phraya express boat pier, so I recommend arriving via the river for an even more enjoyable afternoon.

พิพิทธภัณฑ์ทีาให้ความรู้เกี่ยวกับบางรักในสมัยก่อน รวมถึงเก็บของเก่าๆที่ในสมัยนี้หาไม่ได้ บรรยากาศร่มรื่นเดินชมได้เรื่อยๆ มีบ้านให้ชมทั้งหมด 3 หลัง พี่ๆให้บริการดีมากค่ะเป็นกันเอง ให้ความรู้เยอะด้วยค่ะ

Meet this when I was wandering around to see how Thai's life. Look like the other SEA old place. However, I think it will be interesting for Western people.

Visited on 13/10/2919 after church service, and loved the place! Felt like being in my own grandmother's house of the 1940s; feeling's different from seeing mere photos on the net. Glad the owner & family preserved memories of heritage and culture; a come-to-life family reunion at the garden would've completed my visit! Staff were very accommodating too.)

Nice historical house and it’s free entrance. The front house has vintage stuff to show how people lived in Bangkok before WW2. Everything is still in good condition. The second house has medical stuff which is good to see. The last one is a bit modern but it has Ac to relax a bit.
