Bangkok Butterfly Garden and Insectarium

It's entertaining. The one species of butterfly I wanted a picture of wouldn't stop for me to take a picture.

Not bad for a "government-run" museum. Dont expect much if you come from countries where museums are well maintained. My kids love it though. Not too hot. There's a small exhibition about insects and butterflies (in Thai). You can enjoy a lil bit of air-conditioning. Not that many of butterflies but a good spot to rest from a hot weather.

One of the best parks in Bangkok with big parking spaces. You can hire a bicycle to explore the park. The park has a long walking track surrounded by a sunflower garden, a Lake, picnic spots, a butterfly Park, and small stores in the park. It is one of the best places for running and walking. There are many good restaurants near by but beware of monitor lizards.

Very pleasant place to spend some time, also free to enter. Set in a beautiful park, you could spend all day there.

The place is small and ordinary in the middle of a very large garden. Entrance is free. It is a small museum and enters you into a garden in which there are a few butterflies. Close to Chatuchak market, the weekend market

Very nice place for children and adults! The park where the house is situated is amazing, the bike riding is highly recommended.

I enjoyed spending 20 minutes walking through the enclosure watching the dozen or so species interact. Great free attraction when you are exploring the park.

My kids loved it here, it's not very big but they were happy enough to walk around finding many different colored butterflies. It is inside a big park, we had a bit of a trouble locating the entrance to the park as maps direction stopped you by the roadside with no entrance door. Satisfied with the place, eventhough it's free, it's better than some of the paid Butterfly Parks I've visited in the past.

It’s is free so I think 3 star is great however don’t drive specifically to this area to visit the butterfly garden. You will be in and out within 30 mins. There aren’t many butterflies here but still it is nice and as I was in the neighbourhood it was a good use of time.

Great for children’s experience although the butterflies are not so many. There are an AC room for the preserved butterflies and insects and an outdoor space for the living ones.

The route to go there by walking from BTS Chatuchak could be very exhausting for young children especially if the sunlight starts to intensify.

My recommendation if transportation cost is a not the main constraint, then take BTS to the nearest station from the Butterfly Park and take taxi or take ride-hailing car/taxi straightaway and stop at Wachirabenchathat Sports Center, from there you need to walk around 1km to arrive at the Butterfly Park entrance.

The Butterfly Park entrance fee is free.

Butterfly house in Rot Fai park. About one kilometer from car park. No entrance fee. It’s a little garden and a lot of butterflies. Nice place and good for children.

The place was ok to visit by the way, definetely not going just for it. It's a bit like old school museum with butterfly garden around but not too many butterfly inside. There is also huge park around but during the day is way too hot to chill.

Free entry. A/C display area about butterflies, mostly in Thai. Caterpillars. Large area for hatched butterflies to fly in with ponds and waterfall. Recommend.

It is free. The staff very attentive. Although I would have preferred to pay and get a more in-depth butterfly experience. We expected more options to interact with insects and caterpillars. 6 yr old verdict. This place was not cool.

Amazing place to introduce the kids to most amazing and beautiful living creatures of nature. Easy to spend few hours exploring the beauty of nature, get amazed and photograph them. The butterflies can get real close! So many of them and so many sizes, colours and verities. I got a pic to such close up and clarity that I surprised myself. I could see the butterfly proboscis which was folded spirally, that wasn't even visible with naked eyes. Then there were butterflies resembling leaves with perfect camouflage. One of the butterflies was so huge, measuring around 20cm. I could take close photo while it stayed still. Needed to take photo with a pen for reference so that the folks back home would believe it.
There is a small insectarium where we can know various phases on life of butterflies and see preserved samples of many types.
It got bit hot and humid due the the conditions for butterflies to flourish and needed to be hydrated often. Overall it is a great place to visit, learn and enjoy the beauty.
