Expensive but to be expected for location and high tea. Paid 2000 baht for oriental high tea set. Other sets were closer to 3000 baht. Tea was delicious but the food came out cold. Flavours were unique but not mind blowing. Atmosphere was great though very cute. Very nice view of river too to check out after your meal

Thai afternoon tea mostly consists of salty food.
With a wide range of items, you can have a general understanding of Thai food through this set meal.
But if you want to taste something sweet, it is recommended to choose British afternoon tea
The set meal comes with tea, White House tea has a refreshing and elegant fragrance, highly recommended

I just found this super unique and yummy spot for afternoon tea. And get this, they have unlimited refills! Can you believe it? I've been to a bunch of afternoon tea places in Bangkok, but none of them offered refills before. It was seriously impressive. The food was top-notch, and to make it even better, they had live music playing. I highly recommend you take a break and check it out. Trust me, you won't regret it!

Author's Lounge oozes history and trad vibes. Grammable from every angle (and some patrons really seem to enjoy this aspect!) Walls are adorned with super colonial era images.

Impeccable service - attentive and unintrusive. Even had a chappy appear for some fingerstyle renditions of jazz standards, wedding catalogue classical and even a happy birthday.
Every guest must order a meal which comes up to quite a lot of food. They also come round at the end to ask if you would like to double up on any of the items! If you were already struggling, extra items can be packed away though.

Spring afternoon tea set was delicately put together and presented in a slightly hazardous shelf hidden inside a hardback "book". Strawberry jelly on the champagne foam a little rubbery and a challenging cut with the spoon.
Oriental tea set started out punchy (dried pulled pork and a hot and garlicy stuffed pepper). Spoiled the palate a bit for the rest of the meal. Skin on the dumplings was a little on the thick side. Again, some over gelatine'd items in the sweets.

The drip coffee is made tableside with a bit of fanfare (scales, a handgrinder and pourover into some fancy fancy round-bottomed double-walled glassware). A very inoffensive blend of Blue Mountain and Mae Taeng resembles a cafe du monde with less attack. Twist of orange and honeycomb mellows it out even more.

Go for the experience, but I'm sure you can do better with food elsewhere in Bangkok.

Haven’t been to the high noon tea since the late 70’s. It was an excellent beautiful location with the highest quality of wonderful service.

Visiting the second time, this time we came for out anniversary.

Had requested for a good table and they ensured the good spot in the main room was reserved for us.

We ordered the Western Christmas Set and the Oriental Set.

I've had the Oriental Set before and it's definitely the go to. It comes with mostly Thai favourites and snacks. It is heavier on the savoury side and that's what I prefer. This time came with mango scones and a lime chilli sorbet (gives a kick and is surprisingly refreshing).

The place has been maintained well and adorned with all the prominent guests who have visited and stayed at the hotel and the old Mandarin Oriental Bangkok.

If you order a set for yourself, you get unlimited refills for 2 hours. So if you are planning on doing this, go on an empty stomach as the regular set itself is quite heavy.

For vegetarians and vegans, they have a dedicated set - so you'll not be left out.

Will keep returning regularly.

Classic English Tearoom to enlighten you with wonderful Afternoon Tea sets. We tried both Western and Thai sets. The Western set was our favorite. Nice place to relax and chat with friends and celebrate special occasion.

If nothing else, this place is worth going to for the classical guitarist they have playing. Probably the best technical and performance guitarist we have seen anywhere in the world… and we say this as two former members of a global symphony orchestra.

Tea was lovely, food was beautifully presented and staff were delightful. Probably not as creative in culinary terms as House on Sathorn for slightly less $$, but the history of the surrounds balance that somewhat.

A place that is in a class of it own. All the pastries served were exceptionally delectable and I have an amazing time there. It is a place where opulence meets class, style and elegance. This is truly one of my best afternoon tea experiences. Author's Lounge will always be a beautifully polished gem stone placed proudly on Bangkok's tourism crown.

We really enjoyed this place for an afternoon tea session. The staff was very kind. Food was delicious and they even made a little cake for our anniversary. Definitely worth visiting this place when in Bangkok.
