This hotel does only partly feel like a five star experience.

The lobby is beautiful, clean and smells delicious. Reception staff is super friendly and takes really good care of the guests. Honestly, the staff is what feels the most like a five star experience.
First faux pas during check in: If you want the complementery welcome drink, you have to prepare it yourself, draining chrisanthemum juice from a container that gives a feeling like you are in a youth hostel. I have been to three star hotels which offered better service in this area.

Pool: The pool is on floor 7 and NOT an infinity pool. Neither is a nice view from the pool available. Someone uploaded pictures from a different Ascott location in Bangkok with an infinitiy pool but that is not showing this location. The pool area is also not half as beautifully lit at night, as the picture uploaded by Ascott themselves makes you belive.

If you want pool towels, you have to fetch them yourself at the gym on floor six. Another thing where many three star hotels outshine the Ascott. Since the pool is open until 10pm and the gym closes at 9pm on weekends, you have to plan ahead if you would like to use the pool in the evening hours of a weekend.

Rooms: I rented an Executive Studio and specifically asked for a room with a view, if possible. I was placed on sixth floor with a view at the wall of the neighboring building. I understand that not every request can be fulfilled, but that again felt rather disappointing.

The room itself is rather spacious with a big fridge, washing/dryer combo, separate bathtub and shower as well as a dining and living area. Walls and furniture have seen better days and need a replacement or fixing/repainting to fit the five star standard. The complementary bananas were a nice extra but I would have preferred to just get more than the exactly two coffee capsules for two guests.

While the AC in the bedroom is working fine, the AC in the living area is of poor condition and barely cools the room down. Both ACs are wall controlled and you do not get a remote, so if you feel too cold or hot while in bed, your only option is to get up and walk to the door to change the AC settings. Another thing that most three star hotels in Thailand do better. Edit: After three failed tries at fixing the AC and them telling me it is all fine now each time, they upgraded me to a slightly better room with actually working AC.

The breakfast which is served in the cafe next to the pool is not bad, but the available selection of foods could be larger. The cafe seems to be a bit understaffed at timew which leads to the waiters hectically running around, disturbing the tranquility of the place. Again something where I have seen better in way cheaper hotels. While each one of the cafe doors is printed with a dresscode (no swimwear, no sportswear, no flip flops, etc.), noone seems to care about those rules, neither guests nor staff.

All in all a not good, not terrible package. Next time I would chose another hotel though, since there are many with a similar price and better service.

Not an International Experience

This was my fifth trip to Bangkok, but the worst ever, hotel stay wise. The hotel management needs to work on multiple areas with immediate effect.

1. Customer service: I am a huge fan of thai hospitality, but the Ascott Sathorn was no where even closer to being a tiny bit of customer service oriented. Be it rude email replies to a request made by us before check in or other small requests during our stay, mostly they denied all our requests.one instance, for mere one extra breakfast (which was being paid by us at check out), we were asked to step aside while we actually eating our breakfast, just to attend some telephone call, that too multiple times, followed by some signatures.it was so humiliating, to be asked to steo aside while we were trying to have our (paid***) meal with our friends.

2. Cleanliness: The lobby carpet in common areas like pool, brekafast, gym smelled very very bad.it needs some conditioning on immediate basis.

3. Communication: The hotel staff were incapable of English communication, this was also a first experience of staff being not able to communicate with international customers in English.

4. Breakfast spread: very limited items in breakfast for a 5-star property.

The one and only one good thing in this hotel is its gym.

I dont recommend this property at all.my previous stays were at
1. Anantara
2. Dusit Thani
3. Shangri-La

Had amazing times in all of them.

I rented a condo from a so-called vipconcierge, which was posted on TripAdvisor. To make the long story short; Gaglio, Danny from Vi.agency and Arm, who was the Hotel manager at the time all together hand in hand made my life miserable, stole my money, jewelry and a few World-known brand clothes. Reported it to the police, but I guess the police in Thailand is as corrupt as the Thai people. I left that apartment earlier-had to pay to another hotel for the remainder of my stay-because I was afraid of other horrible incidents. The Land of Smile, Thailand is called, but I saw nothing but disgustingly dirty places, bad behaviors and horrible customer service. They wan t to learn from Americans, but they are horrible students. We, Americans, take peoples money but we provide service and care. Ascott hotel employees and specially the management have no clue how customer service and care means. Arm, the manager is the one who helped Danny and Gaglio to get away with stealing my stuff. I was invited by the Thai Government and Academia to give speeches and lectures, but even among those I saw nothing but ignorance.

Front desk will torture you during your stay and even after you check out. Front desk will force you to count number of laundries used in the evening of Xmas, after check-out. Hotel does not fill in amenities because of the reason that the hotel not getting supplied.

What an amazing place to stay while in Bangkok. We booked thru Agoda and got a spectacular deal on a 1 bedroom apartment on the 8th floor overlooking the pool. The Saint Louis Metro train station is just steps away from the hotel, making it easy to get around town. There is a Tops Food market nearby too where you can get groceries. Starbucks on every corner. There is a small mini store at the ground level of the hotel that sells a small selection of items for cheap.

Very late review! We stayed there almost 2 years ago (before covid) and it was amazing! Apartments are great, stuff are friendly and location is just perfect. Especially for families with kids!

Room was tad bit too dark and feel somewhat old and unwelcoming, washing machine room was stinky. Stay during covid time, and above 8pm there's nothing available to order, not even a cup of milk they could spare us from their kitchen. No minibar available aside of bottles of water and 2 soda cans. We order food from outside and usually in other hotel, the receptionist will call us if the food is arrived, receptionist in ascott didn't even bother to inform us until i have to call them and ask about my food (very uncommunicative).

Great team here, who truly care for the well-being of residents, almost a second family. The apartments are huge with quality furnishings plus excellent gym with separate men’s and women’s hot pool, sauna and steam room plus a fantastic outdoor pool that catches the sun almost all day. Good view from apartments on the eastern and northern sides.

It feels like home:) After working and staying in regular hotels I'm so happy I changed to utilizing the service apartments at Ascott. It has dramatically changed my long trips to Bangkok and given me a sense of being home while I'm away from home. Highly recommend the Ascott and their superior friendly and kind staff. Thanks for making my stay so lovely.
