ปางปรินิพพาน / The Reclining Buddha reviews
21 A must see when you are in Bangkok. The reclining Buddha is really, really big. Unfortunately, there are always a lot of tourists there and it's crowded.
The entire temple complex, on the other hand, runs smoothly and is beautifully constructed.
The great size of this Buddha is truly impressive. A stop worth making in Bangkok to see it!
The Reclining Buddha is probably the most important attraction on the grounds of Wat Pho. To see it, you must therefore purchase a regular entry ticket for Wat Pho. The Budda is located in a small temple building in a corner of the site. Like everywhere else, you have to take off your shoes. The path from the entrance leads counterclockwise around the Buddha. It can get very crowded here, so it may be worth coming shortly after the site opens or just before it closes.
The Buddha is really impressive, it is worth paying attention to the details of the decorations.
Many tourists behave inappropriately towards the holy site. Tourists should exercise the necessary restraint as this is an important place for Buddhists.
A giant reclining gold Buddha. It's huge! There are some area where you can take pictures without much people blocking the view. You just need to queue a little and wait for other people to take their pictures as well. I'm not sure if it's only at the time of our visit, but this place has been overly crowded.
This cannot be described in words.impossible.it must be seen to be believed. It is simply amazing. (As a mathematician, I stood in wonder at the complexities of the process required to construct this. It is amazing.)
Tourists from all over the world must visit Wat Pho to see and take a photograph of the Reclining Buddha. Actually, it's a lot of fun to take pictures here, especially in the evening. You might want to take a picture of the enormous pagodas against the setting sun.
Worth visit. Go early in the morning when it is cool. Ignore Tuktuk drivers telling you it is closed for renovations, special ceremonies etc and offer to take you somewhere else instead. ; the usual scam at this area.
Highly recommend coming here, especially after the Temple of the Emerald Buddha, this is a spectacular Statue. With COVID restrictions in place it is very empty and you are able to get great pictures.
Worship the beautyful reclining buddha and learn about thai massage which UNESCO register for the world high value knowledge.
WAT PHO the royal monastery is best known for the 46-meter-long reclining Buddha statue housed in its Ordination Hall. It's located next to the Grand Palace and has also traditionally been a place of education. You can still enjoy a Thai traditional massage at its school. To get WAT PHO take a ferry crossing from WAT ARUN pier to THA TIEN pier or the CHAO PHRAYA Tourist Boat from SATHORN pier near to BTS Saphan Taksin Station.
Beautiful temples and very famous for Reclining Buddhas. The location is close to the Grand Palace so it can be reached by walk. Ticket prices for 200 Baht include mineral water. When you enter the temple you have to take off your shoes and put them on the plastic bag and return the plastic bag when it's finished. When taking pictures we have to queue up. Outside the temple building there are temples with beautiful colors and carvings. There is also a gift shop if you want to buy souvenirs.
Beautiful temple well maintained. Always a large crowd and it's hard to take pictures. Dress code for all men and women in all temples, knees and shoulders must be covered.
Interesting place to visit. Does get very crowded when viewing the Reclining Buddha Statue. The area is beautiful and well-maintained. Nice to walk around the temple complex and take pictures, it was so serene.
War Pho is one of the ‘must-sees’ historical places in Bangkok. Located in the old town area, it’s now easily reachable from the MRT Sanam Chai station. The place is famous for its massive reclining buddha statue, which is one of the biggest in Thailand, hence the name 'Temple of Reclining Buddha'. In 2011, Wat Pho was registered by UNESCO in its Memory of the World Program for its marble illustrations and inscriptions which promotes the wisdom of the world heritage. Last but not least, Wat Pho is also famous for Thai traditional massage as the temple is where the massage originated. If you plan to visit, it's better to come early in the moring before 10am or after 3pm to avoid the heat during the day.
The Reclining Buddha is a must see if you are visiting Bangkok! Whilst its stature in size was magnificent, its evident how important the Reclining Buddha is to Bangkok as it's well maintained and treated with respect.
We visited Wat Pho in March 2020, some maintenance is underway restricting access to some areas - not a major issue.
Wat Pho offer free bottled water & drinking stations free of charge to rehydrate in the hot weather!
Beautiful temples with amazing architecture. The intricate design of their temples and structures is really a work of art. They’re really working hard to keep the place clean and pleasant to everyone who visits. The restrooms are clean and they give water bottles for free to tourists.
Note: bring socks because they don’t allow shoes inside the temples and be mindful of those who came to pray.
Great half day spent here. Really wish we had more time and got a tour to learn more. So lucky to have been in the right place at the right time to see the monks praying.
A must see place in BKK. Awesome, hand tiled, colorfull and golden Temples. Breathtaking views and all these golden Buddha statues See it for yourself and feel free to take a walk around! Shops and food on site. Remember not to dissrespect any Buddha statue round the compound of Temples.especially The Resting Buddha! It could bring you in real trouble! Remember about proper cloathing too
